I am one of the folks who occasionally "attends" the services of First Presbyterian Church through their TV ministry, via broadcast on WAXN, as I have done for approximately five years. I became aware of the Church through sitting with an elderly woman who was also my first Sunday School teacher at my local Baptist church. Unable to visit our home church in person, she watched First Presbyterian's service at the nursing home where she spent the last few years of her life. While still a member of said local Baptist church, I am not a regular churchgoer, and while I do not even consider myself a "religious" person, I enjoy the liturgy, music, and being able to witness the baptism of new members, both babies and others.

Predatory parking lot enforced by preferred parking. $35 for half an hour of parking on a week day. Jesus is watching. EDIT: They replied to this and said that the $35 is a "fine" even though the ticket machine spits out a ticket that says "regular rate" and asked me to take this down to not give a bad impression of them. Either the lot is public or it is not. If it's not public, take down the ticket machine or mark it as closed during the day (there is literally a sign that says "open") Just because you're a religious organization does not mean you get a free pass for ripping people off by purposely misleading people at the entrance to the parking lot you own. Be Better.

We're glad to have you in our "TV Congregation," Brooke. Thank you for sharing the story of your Sunday School teacher. Even when she wasn't "teaching" you about God, she was leading you down this path.

Hi, Cory. I sincerely apologize that you found the parking lot predatory. We never want anyone to have a negative experience with our church (or on our property, in this case). That being said, a large sign at the entrance of the lot states that the parking is for First Presbyterian Church use only and that violators will pay a fee of $35 to exit. I understand this seems high; however, this is not a “public” parking lot, so the fee is set to discourage public parking. The church uses this parking lot six days a week for worship services, funerals, two preschools, and staff to have available parking. If the rate were comparable to other lots in Uptown, we would quickly find there to be no parking for our services and ministries. Preferred Parking wanted to set the fee even higher, and the church countered with a lower rate. We compromised at $35. I hope you can see now that it is not intended to be predatory. I hope you will also consider removing your negative review since the issue is with the fee that Preferred Parking has set and placed signage for, and not with First Presbyterian Church.
