First call with Chad the receptionist was so great. He is upbeat, patient, and does his best to answer your questions. I liked the PsyD Kimberly Glover as well, she is easy to work with and I can tell you now, not everyone is. I want to start the next portion of this review with being clear that Matone did warn me about charges related to their services and I did ultimately accept them, but the billing side of things was still strange to me. Some of their fees / charges are not covered by insurance and I didn't fully understand what exactly I was paying for since the descriptions were broad, but I did move forward with the testing. My only major complaint is that Matone did not wait for my insurance claims to fully process before charging me. They called my insurance maybe a couple weeks before the testing and were quoted an amount of roughly $900 remaining for my deductible. I had doctors visits between the original quote / scheduling date and actual testing date. Those visits would lessen the cost of the remaining deductible, and ultimstely what I personally had to pay out to Matone, but I was still charged the full amount of the original quote. Matone didn't wait until the claims were fully processed to charge me. Now I am going to face the weirdness of those claims taking quite some time to process and then getting a refund. My company covers our annual deductible and this is going to make my submission for reimbursement more difficult than necessary.

Wonderful experience both with my weekly therapist as well as the psychologist who did my autism testing. Highly recommend.

As a thirty year professional in the field of substance use disorders and employee assistance counseling, I frequently refer persons to Matone Counseling. They are regarded by peers as professional, empathetic and ethical. Kim and Matt Matone are excellent leaders. Their clinical director Kate Walters-Longshaw is amazing at what she does. I have watched them grow personally and professionally into one of the best counseling programs in North carolina. I trust Matone Counseling and their staff with my referrals.

I wish I couldve been tested here, but after poor communication on their part, I will now have to wait another six months somewhere else to get in for testing. Just before my intake appointment, I received an email from billing that said my insurance quote would be $114 for intake and $111 per session after that. This was verbally confirmed at my intake. My first testing was schedule for a month later. TWELVE HOURS before my testing appointment, at 9:15 PM, I receive an email that said my testing will be $508 and the feedback session will be $570 (I had never even heard of the feedback session prior to this). When I asked what happened to the rates we discussed during the intake, I was told that was only the rate for the intake. I referenced the email I received and the answer suddenly changed to that was the rate per unit. Well 508/111=4.5765. Im not sure how exactly they were going to test me for ADHD 4.5 times. Im sure the counselors here are good counselors, but no one should be given an estimate 10x what they were expecting the night before the appointment. Did they not know these numbers during business hours? Why can no one tell me how the original $111 was actually calculated?

About
Matone Counseling & Testing
Matt & Kim Matone started their Therapy & Counseling Practice in North Carolina where they recognized a need for more accessible mental health care. They started in Charlotte and then expanded to Asheville. Both had their own personal struggles in the past and had participated in various types of counseling. However, they found that it was difficult to make appointments in a timely manner and to use their insurance to obtain quality care. Matt & Kim wanted to change this for others in their community! Their emphasis has been to help diverse populations by making behavioral health available to everyone in the community. They accept almost every insurance plan on the market and partner with dozens of primary care doctors & treatment centers.
