I had been struggling for years trying to decide what to do with my landscaping. I contacted Paul Freeman. He quickly responded, met with us, gave us his amazing vision for what our landscaping could be. We implemented his plan and I have to say, I am so VERY happy with the results. Its been several years since we upgraded our landscaping with Paul, and it gets more and more beautiful each year! I can honestly say, this was one of the best decisions Ive made! I would 10/10 recommend Paul to all my family and friends. Services: Landscape installations, Driveway landscaping, Grading & resloping, Outdoor step construction, Sod installation, Landscape design, Backyard design, Garden decoration

Paul Freeman is a delight - a joy - to work with and brought decades of high-end, sophisticated garden design to our project. Paul is talented and also fun to work with. You will find yourself laughing together as you work alongside Paul throughout the process. We selected Paul for our project based on his portfolio of designing gardens for several historic, well-regarded Charleston properties. Paul did not disappoint... our garden/yard is INCREDIBLE and we get constant compliments from passersby and neighbors! He listened carefully and incorporated all of our family's needs into our space, together with solving some topography and tight space challenges. Paul delivered more than what we ourselves could even envision. Paul also continues to check in on our project and has addressed any little issues that have come up, as naturally will happen with living plants/nature. Paul adequately prepared us for budgeting and longevity of our garden. Paul was also able to change course mid-project due to some garden "surprises" along the way. Highly respect Paul and his way of doing business, and highly recommend! Services: Landscape design, Garden decoration

I hired Freeman Landscape Architecture to assist in the landscape design of a backyard project. Paul was at the top of the list for recommendations from a trusted source. The initial meeting with Paul seemed well. He was prompt and listened to us about what we envisioned in the project. Though It was a bit tough to understand how to work with his company so after that meeting so I suggested starting with a block of hours to kick us off. Paul agreed that would work. Fast forward a few short weeks later we scheduled a meeting to review his progress. We were so excited to see his concept, suggestions, and details. Paul arrived at our home and had a very professional looking print out. At first glance both my wife and I were quite confused. It was mostly a duplication of previous design work from our actual architect with some minor modifications along with removal of core elements of the project. No details, no plant suggestions, and very few notes. It literally contained less details then what we provided Paul to start with. I think everyone at the table was ready for him to show us his next suggestion or at least run down verbally on what he had done. Instead, we were told that this was just the initial scope and we needed a plan to actually get started. Again we had majority of this already completed and were just seeking landscape design suggestions. When trying to understand and clarify and then things started to go further south. I won't go into full detail about the conversation, but it got super awkward quick. Calling your client's home and landscape ugly, cramped, and too small just isn't appropriate. When we questioned why core elements were removed Paul assured us he had spoken with the actual architect and that they agreed with Paul's revisions. This really confused us as we'd ask for some inches in changes days before this meeting and our architect wasn't willing to budge. Paul continued to assure us that he had discussed the plan changes and said they were the right direction. This meeting left us more confused and with more questions then when we originally started the project. Paul quickly fires over his invoice after the meeting. Then not long after that decides to email us and opt-out of the project. Paul leaving the project without completing the initial phase 1 has left us with nothing useable. No digital files. No suggestions. No real design work. Just a waste of time, confusion, and overall a really bad experience. We wanted to get through at least phase 1, but Paul refused to continue working on the project. One would assume at this point that Freeman would waive any costs since he was removing himself from the project. No. Just an email checking on his payment two weeks after the invoice was sent. When we explained the contract we signed had not been completed and we would ask he waive his fee. His response was to threaten us with court. So we are now a month+ behind schedule, have no landscape design, and have paid Freeman Landscape Architecture for nothing useable. Now we have to restart and seek a new firm who actually does landscape architecture. Service: Landscape design
