Well Care Home Health

WellCare does not care about their patients. I was discharged due to an insurance issue and given no warning ahead of time so I could arrange a new home health service. They said they informed my doctor and DME, but both places deny receiving a call from them until this week when I began to make a big fuss. My insurance pays in network and out of network home health agencies but WellCare refused service anyway stating company policy. Thats fine, but they shouldve told me that last week at discharge instead of stringing me along thinking the issue would be resolved and I didnt need a new home health agency. Now that Im no longer under their care, I feel comfortable sharing what happened the first week I was using their services. My PICC line was brand new and this was my first time getting the dressing changed at home. The nurse they sent was very unprofessional and kept having to run out to her car to get things she forgot. While changing my dressing, she let 4 of my PICC line slide out of arm and threaded it back in (that is HIGH infection risk and should never be done!!!). I had to go to the ER right after to check placement of the line and get IV antibiotics. I also had to tell WellCare that nurse was not allowed back in my house. I couldve lost my brand new line or worse, gotten sepsis. The ONLY reason I gave them 2 stars is because the nurse I had for the few months I did use their agency was absolutely fabulous. He truly cared about me and did a great job. But other than that gem of a nurse, the rest has been horrible. If you have a choice, I dont recommend using WellCare.

Wellcare has taken excellent care of my 88 yr old mother-in-law. They were a huge help to my husband and me, guiding us as fulltime caregivers. The Whitley family highly recommend them for your loved one. Cudos to the PT, OT and Nursing team.
