Know what it is before you go, if you do, you will like it. Go with the dogs all the way. Kid-friendliness: Burgers, dogs and fries, what kid doesn't like that?

I've been to Green's several times in the 20+ years I've lived in Charlotte. EVERY SINGLE TIME there was something wrong with the food. Either the hot dog was piping hot, but the chili was cold, or the hot dog was cold and the chili was hot, or the hot dog & chili were fine but the fries tasted like they were made a week ago and microwaved. I just can't win with this place. The pice de rsistance, however, happened this week. I was in the area for jury duty and ended up getting dismissed. As I was walking back to my car (in the parking lot adjacent to Green's) I thought I'd give the place one last try. I walked in at 10:36AM. The place was empty except for me and the owner\manager I remember from previous visits. I asked for hot dogs and was told they were only serving BREAKFAST... until 10:45AM. I said that there was no one else in the restaurant... couldn't he just start lunch 8 minutes early? No, I was told. If I wanted lunch I could leave and come back in 8 minutes, or I could sit at a table and wait 8 minutes for them to start serving lunch. He was really snippy about it, too. So I left and stopped at Culver's on the way home, which was not only delicious, employees there are actually NICE, too! No all local icons need to be saved or worshiped. If this place closes, I won't miss it a bit.
