You can always tell a store that doesnt use their own gear. Disappointing selection. A few good brands, but missing all the good stuff. Also all their items are turned around backwards? Makes it super hard to find what youre looking for.

Hi Jordan. Outdoor shops can be overwhelming. Technical gear, fancy names often honoring elusive mountain peaks or raging rivers. A gear shop can also be a great place to escape, feed the wanderlust, plan that next adventure and hopefully meet like-minded folks who share passion for the outdoors. We are fortunate to have veteran staff with significant outdoor experience; climbers, paddlers, anglers, some even ⅔ to a triple crown. That said, we don’t wear that on our sleeve as we want to make sure our shops express a warm welcome to all who stop by to visit us. In addition to the personal knowledge that each of our staff possess, they also participate in our demos and classes where we offer a great opportunity to learn how it works, improve your skills as well as meet some friendly staff to assist you and learn from you as well. Hopefully, what you experience when you walk through our doors is a warm welcome, and a pathway across those creaky wood floors that lead you to a new adventure where the gear and the staff come together to support your needs. We are interested in hearing your stories, more than we are in telling our own.

We have 2 Hobie Mirage kayaks we purchased a while ago in Ohio. We moved to NC and brought them with us. They were in desperate need of repair and some general maintenance. One had the rudder cable break. We discovered "The Great Outdoor Provision Co." @ the MLF Redcrest Expo where we met Sam Robertson there, and developed an immediate friendship, and are so glad we did. From day one, Sam, has been a godsend in working with us to locate parts. He tirelessly garnered and amassed parts, kept us informed by email, and even had the parts for us at the May Lake Norman Spring Boat Demo such that we didn't have to drive back into Charlotte. Sam is amazing. Very knowledgeable, friendly and super nice. We are forever in his debt. We can't thank him enough for all his help. We were able to get our kayaks back on the water because of Sam's dedication and his helpfulness. We were out on our kayaks recently and were asked what they were and where to get them. We told them to definitely go to The Great Outdoor Provision Co. located in the Park Terrace Shopping Center 4275 Park Rd, Charlotte, NC 28209, as they are the BEST! Thanks again Sam!!
