UPDATE: Steve refunded an amount of $6000 for the project, which is a 33% refund (The total amount I paid for the project was $18,000). I am still out $12,000 for something that didnt work for me but I do appreciate it because its something. PROS: 1. They do a great job regarding treating a room for acoustics. 2. I appreciated that Martin paid close attention to detail when lining up the images on the walls and he worked hard and did an excellent job with what he was tasked to do! The room itself looks awesome. 5/5 stars for his effort. 3. Staff is pleasant to speak to. CONS: 1. For actual soundproofing, which is what I needed to have done, to keep sound out of my recordings, the fibreglass panels on the walls/indow Inserts/door did very little. Unfortunately I need to wake up at 4AM to be able to record audio without cars or planes in the background, and I still have to do cuts, because there are people driving by to go to work. Before I moved into my current house where they treated the room, I had a double wall sound cabin. I knew when I walked into it that I would be able to make a recording. I appreciated being able to just get work done without disturbances. Unfortunately, the soundproofing Performance Acoustics did cost me a total of $18,000, which is several thousand more than that double wall booth, and isn't nearly as effective. They assured me I wouldn't hear noise in the room anymore, and said You're not going to hear it" and "I'd bank my entire company on it that the fibre glass panels will be enough", and that just isn't the case. I can't go out and buy another double wall booth, so I am stuck having to wake up at an unreasonable time now to work. 2. They did not get back to me in a timely manner. I felt like a nuisance, trying to get ahold of both Scott and Lowren. I don't know if that's because I'm a small fry project, being a residential project, but this is my livelihood, so waiting weeks/months to get the ball rolling was a setback for me. Had there been a competitor in the area, I would not have put up with that. 3. My husband overheard Scott talking to Lowren on the phone, and Lowren asked whose house he was at. Scott's reply? "Your favorite customer" (sarcasm). I dont think my husband was supposed to hear that, but it was pretty upsetting when he told me and I did not appreciate it. I apparently was an inconvenience for them. I'm overall heartbroken over this investment. $18,000 later and I can't walk into my recording room and expect it to be quiet enough to film. I am left with a very expensive room suitable for live streaming, which is not what I purchased this for since I stream maybe once a month if that. I feel as though they did not fully understand what I am using the space for (even though I shared my YouTube channel with them to explain exactly what it is I do), but for this price, I find that unacceptable.
