I worked with Furini Architects on a renovation project for a Manhattan apartment in 2023-2024. The project was extraordinarily complicated due to issues related to the GC, permitting, coop board, special inspectors, and the need to redraw and resubmit plans midstream for approval by the coop, their very cranky staff architect, and the DOB. Further complicating matters, I was managing this project from my home in North Carolina. Alex also has offices in New York and North Carolina, so he seemed ideal for my situation. Alex entered in the midpoint of the project and sorted everything out effectively and despite it taking more time than expected, and my offer to extend his contract and pay more he honored our original agreement. He is a skilled architect with the staff, resources, and patience required to successfully complete a complicated project, and he understands the byzantine intricacies of navigating the NY Department of Building's complicated processes and requirements. In fact several months after his phase of the work was complete, I encountered a complication on final inspections and called him up to re-engage him to help me navigate those issues. He readily offered his time to help me sort through the problems and provided a clear path to resolution. Alex is organized, timely, responsive, and effective. And in the very unlikely event I ever attempt another renovation in New York, he'll be my first call.
