We recently used DARI to encapsulate some ductwork in our basement that was covered in asbestos containing material. Travis was professional and provided a quote for the job very quickly. I understand that working with asbestos is expensive and requires certifications/etc. so I was okay with the high price tag.
When the crew showed up they worked hard and fast and got the job done... but their lack of professionalism was startling.
They did not wear masks at all, in a basement working with asbestos. This did not feel right to me so I called NC OSHA and confirmed that at the very least masks should be on in this type of situation. They took a ladder that belonged to me without my permission and used it to do the job. When finished, they did not clean the ladder or return it to where it was. Although the contract stated they would dispose of materials offsite, they left a massive bag of trash in my trashcan. They also walked around the rest of my home with no regards to the hazardous material they were certain to have come in contact with. It was clear that they did not take proper precautions when entering and exiting the job site. And when the job was done, they took the key that I gave them to get in and out of my house. I understand accidents happen, but they did not bring it back until I reached out several times.
Bottom line is these guys did the job that I contracted them to do, but did not display the professionalism I would expect with this kind of price tag. If you are going to charge an arm and a leg to do a job, I expect that job to be done with the utmost care for the safety of the homeowners and the workers themselves.
My advice to those seeking to have DARI perform asbestos demolition or encapsulation work is to READ THE CONTRACT and let them know (before the job starts) that you will be holding them to the details and expect a professional crew.
