Tastee Diner

I've been to this place plenty of times, and never had a bad experience. I do wonder why they removed the kimchi burger from the menu.... Otherwise, it was a great experience!

All of Tastee's beauties are made with skill and pure soul. The trout or catfish po boy will humble even the hardest of hearts. Their smash style burgers are about 5x tastier than Five Guys', and that's an extremely crude comparison, I know, but it is true. They have bodegas out the wazoo for every taste. I guarantee that whatever you order is going to be ridiculously good! Come one, come all: anyone unable to pay for a meal is served by the "wooden nickle" program ($5). This is a core Tastee principle, and it matters a lot to owner Steve Goff. Everyone is welcome at Tastee no matter what their situation, and kindness is put forward. For a very special dessert, the sous chef slapped a honey bun on the grill, and it turned into something so decadent and dense and gooey with complex sugars created. It's a holy eating experience. The fried, seasoned brussels sprouts with the chopped steak will set a new standard for flaky, crispy, airy little cabbages. Mashed potatoes and gravy: I foolishly asked for extra gravy the first time I ordered before knowing the huge bowl of spuds was going to be swimming in a monsoon flood of this absolutely amazing dark brown gravy that you just want to dip anything and everything into once you taste it. I have seen the light and yet tasted only some of the wondrous flavors and textures that abound, married with expert precision in a Michelin star kind of level, but at an attractive price point, and I am not looking back as I forge ahead through the menu.

The service is top notch, attentive and quick service with a smile. Place is small and eclectic hippie feel. My party ordered breakfast items and all were pleased. Pancakes are very thick and doughy; my pancake preference is flakey and on the thinner side. Eggs and bacon were well done. Bathroom is very clean, which shows a lot about the place.

One of the reasons why I opened my business in West Asheville is the great community here and Tastee Diner is a testament to that. Generous, kind people that care about their community! And not to mention, amazing brunch and burgers! Actually, my favorite dish is their side salad, I dream of it daily. So fresh and the dressing is made of dreams!
