I have to say, as a chef I tend to be hard on some places, but then there are places like this that really upset me because it was as if the cook didn't care at all. I went there yesterday (February 10th) with a friend as we were early for a comedy club that we were going to. First I will start with the good: 1) The service was great 2) The salad was great 3) The Bread was great 4) The bottled soda was great That's it! Now, I don't know what their pizza looks like as they didn't have any displayed, so we decided to order pasta which was a mistake. I ordered linguini with sausage and the rigatoni with eggplant. Now, I am not sure if they actually had a cook there or the cook called out and one of the young guys had to throw these dishes together. When the food came to us the first thing you noticed was that both dishes were swimming in sauce. You could tell that they just opened a can of pasta sauce and threw it over my dish, the pasta with eggplant which also was swimming in sauce had fresh mozzarella which had a sour taste to it which from my experience happens when people touch the fresh mozzarella with bare hands. The sausage they used looked like it was the sausage you use for pizza and not for pasta. To their credit, the pasta was cooked correctly, but everything else was a disaster. I am not sure who the owner is, but I would take time to train everyone on how to make simple pasta dishes like these, they were definitely not under staffed as at one time there were 5 of them behind the counter. Whoever made the dishes should be ashamed of themselves for allowing those dishes to come out of the kitchen that way, the owner should be ashamed to charge a premium price for pasta ($15 & $16) and for it to be that horrible. With that said, I can now officially and honestly say that this is the worst Italian place I've ever eaten at, the worst pasta I've ever not only tasted but seen, the worst main course dish I've ever experienced, and I've had bad before, but never like this. So for me, Nonna's is a major NO!
