I've been going to Dr Sobel for many years. He is smart, thoughtful, compassionate, patient-centered. An excellent diagnostician and technician, he always keeps the patient informed of his thinking and decision-making and makes you part of the process. Herbert Sobel is probably the best dentist I have ever been to.  My boss gave me his name when I chipped my tooth and needed it fixed. He is nice, funny, and an excellent dentist. His office is "retro" I guess, and he doesn't even have a computer, just pencils everything in himself. It makes the experience more personal and light. When I got my tooth done, he explained everything he was going to do, and made my boyfriend come in and watch. Along the way he would stop and show my boyfriend exactly what he was doing, it was interesting. He even offered to let me hold a mirror so I could watch. I denied, but it was still pretty cool.I wish I could have kept him as my dentist, but it was too hard to get there without a car. I do highly recommend him, however.
