Kelly is an amazing teacher. Her class room is well laid out and organized to provide a positive space for learning. Her class projects are fun and engaging, and I like that she keeps her class sizes small. I always feel like I have enough personal assistance when I need it. Jewelry making is both easier than I had anticipated, and yet there are a lot of little steps to ensure your pieces turn out the way you intend them to. Kelly is a great mentor and I would highly recommend her studio if youd like to learn something exciting and new!

My fiance and I made our wedding bands with Kelly. She was extremely sweet and knowledgeable. It was an amazing experience! Not only did we leave with beautiful wedding bands, but memories that will last a lifetime. Highly recommend!!

*I DO RECOMMEND TRYING THE CLASSES - THESE ARE JUST MY PERSONAL EXPERIENCES* I've done two classes, both described as not needing experience - Friday night ring making and hollow forms. The ring making definitely felt beginner friendly and I was able to walk out with a piece that I wear daily. The hollow forms class had a lot of potential but as someone with very little knowledge and experience, it felt like there was a lot that needed to be shown and there's only one instructor. I chose to create my own form from plexiglass which took additional time and put me steps behind other people in the class so I felt that a decent amount of time was spent waiting for the instructor to be available so I could learn. Completely personal to me, but written instructions or labeling of areas/machines in the shop may have helped with my being able to continue my project without having to wait as much as I did. Some points felt a little frustrating because there would be low fuel levels in the torches, the Dremel tips were all worn down with no new tips as backup, and there were steps for some of the metals that I chose that I was told needed to be done - for example heating a metal so that it became easier to flatten/make thinner - but I wasn't shown how it was done. The instructor just offered to do it since it would be time consuming, which believe me was appreciated but I truly wanted to learn. The work spaces themselves are nice though. The tables are adjustable to a height that works best for you and each station has its own set of tools. By the end of the hollow form class (we had actually already gone past the time allotted for the class at this point) I recognized that this wasn't going to turn into a jewelry piece that I would want to wear or gift and I did voice that concern. The instructor tried to stay positive which was appreciated but then stressed that this was an advanced class... I chose this particular class (as a birthday gift from a family member) specifically because it said that experience wasn't needed. Four stars for: Nice people Work spaces are comfortable The hollow forms description saying one thing about experience level while the instructor said another Feeling like the financial investment in the hollow forms class didn't translate to a wearable piece is a bummer

I took an Interlocking Ring class with Kelly. It was a fantastic class! I had no previous experience with jewelry making and to be honest I have no artistic skills. Kelly is the best teacher, she gave by step instructions and assisted when needed. The studio is beautiful and welcoming. I highly recommend taking a class. I will be signing up for another class soon. Thank you so much Kelly!

Thank you for sharing your experience Rita. We love giving student's choices in their designs, rather than insisting everyone make the same thing. This sometimes bites us in the butt as design choices can take you from a beginner level (as the class was advertised) to a more advanced level. You mentioned cutting out the plexiglass and adding additional cut out shapes requires additional skill sets that you did a really good job with and definitely up the challenge level of the class. Regarding the studio-gas and burs for the flex shaft are expendable materials that do need to be replaced regularly when they wear/run out. I've added more at each station based on your feedback. I also reached out to your sister as I did not have your contact information, to come in for an open studio with Marissa to refine and finish your project so that you are happier with it, so I do hope you'll consider that option. Thank you. Kelly

You are so welcome Helena! Sometimes people’s thoughts hold them back from trying something new, but you did not let that stop you and look what you achieved! You are welcome back anytime!
