I had a great experience with Nebula Academy. The program gave me a chance to improve on my skills as well as learn new ones. The Nebula Academy Team worked really hard to keep this program running even though they werent being paid. The instructors are intelligent individuals that were able to answer my questions, and if not point me in the right direction. This program was supposed to be conducted in person but because of Covid striking the team had to adapt the program to take it online instead. I was upset at first about the change, but then I realized that this turn of events was actually better for us. Many companies are hiring for remote positions now and we got the chance to collaborate under the Microsoft Teams environment. We covered Javascript, HTML, CSS, React, Postgresql, SQL, Node.js, Express, AWS and other topics. Instructors always provided office hours, and tried to schedule them according to students availability. Every Friday we would work together on activities crafted by the Nebula Team to help build our collaboration skills. We would end the day with a guest speaker coming to talk to us. I loved the diversity of guest speakers we received. We had project managers, developers, CEOs, recruiters, financial advisors come in to talk to us. Im VERY grateful for the opportunity to have been there to listen to their stories and journeys and to actually be able to converse and ask questions. They shared us with us so many hidden gems, and I personally felt inspired after every meeting. The projects were difficult but they were also fun to build, and students could always reach out to the instructors or other classmates when stuck. We had the amazing opportunity to work on the official WCTD website as our capstone project. I learned to use Azure Devops to take on tasks, and learned about branching in Git to push and merge changes in Github. At the end of it I felt super comfortable with Azure Devops, Git/Github, and had drastically improved my React and CSS skills. I built a calculator app, a mini Netflix clone as well as Mario browser game. I learned about AWS S3 buckets, RDS and EC2 instances and am in the middle of studying for my AWS Cloud Practitioner Exam. The Nebula Academy Team provided support throughout and after the program. Even after the program ended I still receive messages with advice on improving my resume. There are study sessions for the AWS exam being conducted after the program ended. Overall I thought the program was excellent only because it was made up of excellent people. I learned a lot, and am very grateful for the opportunity.
