I lived at the Fitzgerald for the first four years of its existence, from early 2019-23. I stuck around for a reason: With its high ceilings, open kitchen and floor-to-ceiling windows, the actual physical space was comfortable. Maintenance responded to work orders promptly and worked quickly and efficiently to remediate problems. Property management was also attentive to issues. Redburn Development Partners rehabilitated a historic building for the apartment, which has its positives and negatives. It was a plus to be the first-ever person to live in the unit, which contains modern kitchen appliances, including an induction stove, stainless steel refrigerator and an all-in-one washer dryer combo. It was clean and modern. On the flipside, the walls were somewhat thin and not soundproofed, so expect to hear more noise from your neighbors than in older buildings. For some people, that may not be an issue, but as someone who dislikes dogs, it was bothersome at times. The Fitzgerald is centrally located in downtown Schenectady, which is undergoing an economic revitalization, so there's plenty of bars and restaurants. Just don't expect all the amenities of a 24/7 modern city. So 4.5 stars.
