Holiday Inn Express & Suites Saugerties - Hudson Valley, an IHG Hotel

Stayed recently for a recording session in the area. I dont have a lot of expectations or demands for this sort of corporate chain hotel. I know the breakfast is going to be inedible, the beds are going to be rock hard, theres going to be next to no water pressure in the showers, the rooms are going to look out on an expressway or a parking lot, and the walls are going to be so thin as to serve little function in terms of quiet or privacy. All of this is true about this place, and all of this is fine. Im not expecting the Ritz. The singular expectation I have is hygiene and cleanliness, and even then Ill generally overlook worn towels or the occasional stain on a piece of furniture. All Im really looking for out of a Holiday Inn is a reasonable nights sleep. This hotel, however, committed the only truly unforgivable, cardinal sin. My room had bed bugs. Found a live one on the duvet cover, which means the underlying infestation must be significant. The manager came up and saw it, so dont let them gaslight you into pretending its all in my head when they invariably reply to this. I had to change hotels and spent hours heat treating and sanitizing my clothes and luggage before I felt remotely comfortable going home. As anyone whos lived in a big city knows, bringing so much as one bed bug home is all but a guarantee of months of expense, dislocation and misery to have so much as a prayer of ever being rid of them again. There is little I dread more. Avoid this establishment like the plague until they take the problem seriously and provide proof of facility wide, professional extermination and remediation.

Unfortunately, the unreasonable management is causing this review. Nothing but hockey families in town for states and the guy has been giving us a hard time about a bunch of 17 year olds sitting quietly in a room. They guy wants to kick everyone out for no reason and call the cops. They have been in there for three hours without incident. If it wasn't for us they would have no business...next year we will take our funds to another establishment.

The supervisor at this hotel canceled our wedding room block 2.5 months out from our wedding leaving numerous guests without a hotel room. He is incommunicative and has, in this instance, gone back on a previously agreed upon business transaction. I DO NOT RECOMMEND USING THIS HOTEL FOR WEDDINGS OR OTHER LARGE PARTIES.
