My daughter was a client for six months or so. The intern diagnosed her and made a diagnosis that was completely inaccurate. She is not legally able to make diagnosis's, as counselors cannot diagnose in New York State and regardless, shes an intern!!!! The owner did not seem to care, which is surprising because this is a reportable offense. If a practitioner is going to diagnose somebody, it should do it based off of a full psychological exam, talking to family members, Interviews etc. Every little detail that can be gained should be. She met with her a couple times and made this judgment call. Incorrect and illegal! I think she needs to take psychopathology over again. As a mental health counselor student in a masters program, I can tell you what she did was completely unethical and just wrong. Be wary. I have also read another review that had one star and the owners response was very defensive. And she is making assumptions. Very unprofessional and unhelpful. How somebody deals with criticism says a lot about them. in response to your response- all you made is excuses. Regardless of who the client is you can speak to the issue. I will most definitely be reporting you, and so will my daughter.

My young adult child is a client of Pelkeys at Spotted Rabbit Studio in Perinton and they love working with them. Here is what they said: "They are neurodivergent like me and have very similar experiences to me. Highly recommend for neurodivergent LGBTQ+ individuals like myself!" Well done, Pelkey and Spotted Rabbit!

I had an excellent creative arts therapy experience at Spotted Rabbit, including having the pleasure of working with Rivka, who was professional, engaging and insightful. My primary project was making a vision board to help guide me through the next several years of my life. There are many modality options at Spotted Rabbit, so do not hesitate to explain your project/activity preferences, be it visual arts, pottery, Origami, collage, painting, etc. The Therapists are there to help and are highly accommodating to all skill levels. I highly recommend Spotted Rabbit Creative Arts Therapy for an immersive, person-centered and stimulating therapy experience.

Thank you, Sarah, for all the beautiful works of art Kaitlyn has proudly brought home and showed off to family & friends. From the weaving, pottery, wooden cat planter, bench's & tiled pieces of art are incredible, and Kaitlyn looks forward to every session with you. She is always excited & so proud to see people's reactions when she gives them one of her creations.

Thanks for your feedback Kelly. In all honesty this is a difficult review to respond to as your daughter is an adult and her own legal guardian and therefore your involvement in her treatment at Spotted Rabbit was intentionally limited due to privacy laws. I apologize if that led to any confusion or disagreement. We take ethical considerations very seriously here at Spotted Rabbit. All of our interns are under full supervision of a Licensed Creative Arts Therapist, as well as Licensed professors at their college. At no time do interns assess or evaluate any client on their own or independently develop a course of treatment. Their supervising clinician and myself as director are intimately involved in all aspects of client care. Additionally, the practice of the profession of creative arts therapy according to NYS includes “the assessment, evaluation, and therapeutic intervention and treatment…” It would wholly unethical for us to not assess and evaluate your daughter prior to providing therapeutic treatment. If you truly believe misconduct has occurred I urge you to file a complaint with NYS here: https://www.op.nysed.gov/enforcement/professional-misconduct-enforcementI am very sorry that you disagree with our assessment, but again due to privacy and confidentiality laws I cannot fully speak to any of the other inaccuracies in your review.

Thank you so much for the review! We believe it's important for therapists to share experiences with the clients we work with so many of our therapists are LGBTQ and/or also autistic or have ADHD. We're so glad Pelkey was a great match!
