I made an appointment on 01/18 for 9AM on 01/19. I was asked to pay a $25 deposit to hold the tires I chose. I was given a balance due on the website ($874.92).
I arrived at 8:40AM. At 9AM I was told the tires I reserved were not in stock, and was offered a lesser tire. I needed the tires in a timely fashion, so I agreed to the lower grade product.
When I was given the price the lower grade tires were only ~$50 less than the tires I was supposed to get. When I asked why, I was told that they couldn't have honored the price I was quoted online for the original tires, and they would have charged me $1012.00. They said that they are a franchise and not responsible for the corporate website, and that this problem "happens all time."
I called corporate and was told that because the Rhinebeck NY store is a franchise, "there is absolutely nothing we can do to help," and the local store is responsible for giving the price quoted online.
Because they blame each other, I'll let the NYS Attorney General's Office sort it out. My instinct tells me that corporate and their website is to blame, but after this, I wouldn't trust any Mavis location.
