The Salvation Army Thrift Store & Donation Center

There are people that have worked there for the past 3 years or more that have no customer service experience even with repeat customers that pay their salaries. One staff person even calls herself a manager which is laughable. Prices were low and fair until she started working there 4 years ago. She decided to raise all the prices of items to ridiculous high prices and did it with an attitude as well. Of course she does not live in Poughkeepsie, because if she did the people that live here would not put up with her nasty attitude. They need to let her go and replace her with someone that has the maturity to deal with low income customers. It's time to turn the page on this person. Out with the old and in with the new! She is a bully, abusive and practices the art of discrimination freely without a regard for others rights to shop there

Never shopped here,only donated.But we never will donate again after our recent experience. We showed up with three boxes of goods on a Saturday, and pulled up to the curb. We could see employees standing there looking out the window,doing nothing else. My husband went in to see if he could get some help with the boxes, and was told by one employee,"I'm not doing that." In the meantime a male employee standing there didn't offer to help at all. My husband had to get the dolly himself and deal with taking the boxes in. Nobody on staff lifted a finger and the male employee threw massive attitude. We were informed that the manager was not there. On Monday,I called to speak with the manager and got some person claiming to be a "receptionist. " When I asked to be connected to the thrift store,this person claimed the phones were down( likely story) and offered to give the manager a message. I told him about the incident on Saturday,and he said he would make sure to give the manager the message and have that person call me.I haven't heard from them. Side note: Tuesday we took some stuff to the Goodwill store in Wappingers Falls and had the complete opposite experience. Friendly,helpful employee that offered assistance without being asked.Same type of organization,totally different mindset.
