image I just moved to NYC and I feel very lucky to be living close to Hudson Animal hospital. Dr. Yoshida and the staff are friendly, warm and caring. I felt at home right away. I am thankful.

image The vets and staff here are really great. I feel like my cat is very well taken care of, and their prices are fair (for Manhattan). They're very responsive, clean, friendly, intelligent, experienced. 10/10! Very glad to bring my girl here. She has bad gingivitis (born w/ it) and has had her teeth cleaned here successfully. My cat also had to have luxating patella surgery (congenital) and is recovering very nicely. Obviously wish I had no health issues for my cat, but Hudson vet helps take care of anything that pops up. I feel she is in very good hands.

image Hudson Animal Hospital took tremendous care of my aging yorkie for years. He lived 17 years - and 4 years longer than he otherwise would have had it not been for Hudson. Dr's Yoshida and Angiello are compassionate, detailed, and experienced. The staff has always been welcoming, responsive, and compassionate. The whole practice is a gem of a veterinary office - even for the Upper West Side - and I'd never go anywhere else.

image HAH is the best of pet care specialists I have been to in the last 50 years The staff is super friendly, helpful and accommodating always - even with last minute things. Dr. Angiello is a pro, loves animals and is patient, inquisitive, and enormously thorough. The hospital runs on time, is well stocked with medications and very reasonably priced. 5 's

image FRONT DESK STAFF: 5 STARS
VET TECH: 0 STARS
VET: 1 STAR
THE PURPOSE OF MY VISIT WAS 1) TO GET AN INTERNATIONAL TRAVEL CERTIFICATE AND 2) TO EVALUATE IF THIS VET WAS THE BEST FIT FOR OUR FAMILY
I absolutely ADORED there front desk staff. If I could give them 10 stars I would have. They were professional, friendly, adored my dog and gave her lots of attention, fit me in for a last minute visit despite not being an established patient yet, and generally made all logistical and welcome tasks amazing.
When the vet tech greeted me and my dog she immediately took her over to the scale. It said my dog weighed 2 pounds more than she had 7 days before when we went to her regular vet. As a medium sized dog this really surprised me. I asked if that seemed possible or likely that a 50 pound already healthy adult dog could gain 2 pounds in a week. She tersely replied "yes." I said are you sure it could not be a calibration issue with the scale, she really doesn't look any different (my dog is fairly lean so you'd pretty easily see extra pounds on her). She simple said "No."
When we went into the room she asked regular questions, why are you here, etc.. all that was fine although I personally did not feel any warmth from her or particular concern for me or my dog. At no point did she look at, play with or interact with Skye. Not a requirement but it would make me feel she cared more.
However, I saw a poster on the exam door that spoke about signs your dog is anxious and so I asked, "It says dogs that pant are anxious. My dog pants a lot when we exercise but also sometimes when we are in the park or at home. Could that be a sign of her being afraid of something?" And her response was simply "Ask the vet."
When the vet came in, I asked her to please take a moment to understand who I am so that we could see if we would be a good fit beyond getting the health certificate as I am looking to evaluate a few great vets I can rely on as my dog gets older.
I explained IN DETAIL how my prior beloved dog was killed by the negligence and dismissive attitudes of 13 different vets. I explained in detail how I kept going to them begging them to figure out what was wrong with her (including the eye specialists in NYC) and they all told me she was perfectly normal for an older dog. But then when the vet put her under anesthesia for a routine dental cleaning, and ignored my list of concerns including neurological damage or tumors, she made her comatose. And how despite 13 different visits over 9 months, not one vet diagnosed her for what eventually caused us to put her to sleep--a huge brain tumor and a huge ulcer that engulfed her whole stomach. She suffered so needlessly for so long.
This vet's answer was simply "I would not have done anything differently and I am certainly not going to throw other vets under the bus."
She did not make even the smallest empathy statement or communicate any concern at all about how it was handled. She merely indicated she cared more about protecting her fellow colleagues than protecting dogs.
She then proceeded to tell me in order to do the health certificate she would have to give a prophylactic tapeworm treatment and flea treatment because it was required by the country. DESPITE HER HAVING ALL MY DOGS RECORDS which clearly state she is hypersensitive to medicine, she did not alert me to any concerns about the tapeworm medicine (she was already on the Simparica so there was no need to alert us).
My dog spent two hours throwing up and with diarrhea feeling absolutely miserable after getting that pill.
The health certificate WAS completed on time and accurately (for $555) so I gave one star. However, as the facts here show, not being warned about bad side effects of medicine, caring more about CYA of fellow vets than about keeping dogs alive, and having a vet tech who clearly is not personable and comes across as not competent makes me skeptical this practice is not the right place for anyone who really really deeply cares for the well-being of their dog.
