        They sent my "unpaid debt" to collections, which is a headache. I never received an email or a letter stating that I had an outstanding balance (even after continuing to attend classes). They lock you into such a silly contract, other gyms are much more flexible.

      Sorry, that you felt caught off guard. We have a process that everyone typically gets notified several times via e-mail and phone. The member of course can also refer to their own statement to see if they're monthly dues are being paid. After 3 months if we haven't received word back or payment, the debt would automatically be sent to an outside collection agency. This is considered a last resort and not something we take lightly. It's certainly not financially beneficial as collections agency's keep about half of whatever they are able to collect.
