12/10/22 Update, stars has been downgraded to a 0; went to the supermarket today to grab Mozzarella Cheese and Ricotta cashier rang me up, an elderly lady came to the cashier and asks her "are you open?" (booth light was off) she rudely responds with "I just rang her up", the lady asks her again "are you open?", she responds again rudely; at this point I intervene and say she doesn't know if you're open or not as your light is off, all you needed to do was answer yes; you have poor customer service. I spoke to the "manager" a true waste of time for he said he would inform the manager (I asked him who the manager was he said that's not important, I pointed out to him that wasn't what I asked and that he just displayed poor customer relations/service); he stated he would speak to the cashier later, the cashier proceeded to mouth off about "why did she say anything you'll are not together, why you worried about it? "Manager says "Rosie stop" she says no! I said "see she was just rude to you", like she was rude to that lady (pointing at the elderly lady) Rosies is in the background mouthing off "every time you come to my booth there's a problem", I said yes when you became inpatient and tried to be rude to my senior neighbor a few weeks ago, I corrected you on your attitude and behavior. The elderly woman waited and thanked me. As of this updated post I will no longer purchase anything from this supermarket, I will spend my money where there is good customer service. There have been a few times when customers were short on money, card didn't work, brought the bare essentials; etc, etc and I would step in to pay the bill or tell them to get more groceries I'll pay for it, I will continue to do this but not in C-town. 2 is the true rating. Convenient because it's across the street, run in grab what I need for the moment or dish I'm making, it is NOT the "shopping" supermarket for me. It's clean and stocked decently; the issues are... 1. The fruits are bad a majority of the time, the vegetables have their bad times too but not like their fruits. 2. They recently put in a Deli, that was a waste of space as none of the Deli personnel (they have been through a number of people) know how to cut the meat thinly; first they blamed the slicer but supposedly got a new one and still they can't/don't cut the meat/cheese as requested (if I wanted thick meat/cheese I would buy the packaged deli meat or sliced cheese). As I said to each person (got deli meat 3 different times/3 different people) don't display a cut chart if you can't cut it as displayed/ordered. 3. There is a clique of cashier workers (older women), this store has a HIGH turnover in terms of their cashiers; there have been some younger ladies working there but they don't last (asked 2 of the young ladies why aren't they working there, was told because of the rude managers; I could believe that). 4. I've never seen an american non speaking Spanish brown/black person working there in any capacity, everyone there is of Spanish/Mexican nationality with the exception of one lady (I believe she may be Indian, I haven't seen her in a while). 5. The Bottle return machine always has issues "Code Not Readable", it's all water bottles from the same case of water. They need to have the machine serviced and cleaned. 6. The manager (older man with glasses) will try to be rude and walk off as he is responding but stop him in his place and let him know that his action is RUDE and he isn't displaying management or professional qualities to a customer, he'll apologize and try to brush it off by playing nice. 7. As they are independently owned/operated their price gouging during the COVID-19 on surge was ridiculous and some of that price gouging is still going on. Luckily there are many more supermarkets in the area, if you want your Deli meat sliced as you request it go to Associated, if you want great sales go to Keyfood Ave A and 4th Street (it's a good walk or bus ride or Shop Fair Ave C and 4th Street (not meats); there's also other supermarkets on Ave D.
