        My favorite restaurant in NYC. The lobster tagellini is excellent! Vegetarian options: The chef made a custom vegetarian pasta for us.

        The Modern is one of my NY favorites. Food is excellent. This time we ate in the less formal bar. Highly recommended Updating this review. When you look at the menu the options look OK, but not that novel. However, taste any one and you will be amazed at the flavors and quality. Superb food. Have a look at the photos here of the hot dogs with caviar (!), the beef short ribs, and delicious lobster pasta dish. For appetizer I had the steak tartare that came with too good to describe potatoes; crispy outside enclosing pillows of delight. The hot dogs got rave reviews. We recommend getting one these in while waiting for your guests to arrive. In addition, the wine list is spectacular, including many high-priced stars, but also also economical gems. See for example the Barbera d'Alba offerings. A splendid restaurant.
