Emmanuel Presbyterian Church

I joined a friend for worship while visiting New York for a special Christmas hymn themed service, and it was a taste of heaven! People from many tribes, tongues, and nations. The sermon was doctrinally sound, and the community was warm and welcoming. There were five readings from scripture, all spoken in each speaker's native language, including english by a six year old! If I lived in the area, this would very well be my home church.

I'm really glad I found this church. No matter what ensued from my school experience at Columbia University, this church was crucial for continuing my spirituality while living in a city as big as New York City. It's easy to get lost in a big city and feel like one amongst millions, but coming to this church helped me combat any sense of loneliness and reminded me to continue keeping a strong spiritual health. The church distinguished itself with its sermons and worship, both of which I enjoyed a lot. It is conveniently located. Whereas it was easy to locate and very close to campus, the other two churches that I tried out were as far as 40 minutes away, and so, I recommend this church due to it's close location. For any students, from undergraduate to PhD, I highly recommend this church. It was welcoming and not cold, like how typical New Yorkers are characterized. I really sensed a warm welcoming when I went a few times. I regret not coming more often, though.
