Alexander C. Simotas, MD

Recently had my first appt with Dr Simotas seeking relief from neck pain that was interfering w/my daily life. I was very impressed with how he listened and asked detailed questions. He seemed genuinely interested in helping me out of my pain rut. His prescription and treatment helped a great deal. By the next afternoon, I was moving freely and happily. I am very thankful for this doc and all like him who know their s$&t and actually care.

I dont usually write reviews but dr Simotas gave me back my life. After having had two epidurals with no good results from another doctor from Long Island a friend recommended dr. Simotas. My sciatic nerve pain was so severe I couldnt sleep, sit or walk Or function. As soon as I was in the hands of dr Simotas I was pain free He was so precise in pin pointing the epidural in the exact spot. Ive been pain free for 3 years. He was also very patient together with the staff to fill out Family leave forms for my work. He has a golden hand.

Clearly Dr. Simotas has helped many people, but my experience was not very positive. I visited Dr. Simotas per a recommendation from a family member, and I traveled into Manhattan for the appt from NJ. I've had chronic mid-back pain for 5-6 years, and he was unable to offer much helpful advice or strategy about how to diagnose the issue. I believe his exact words were "some people just have this pain, and we don't really know why." He ordered a blood panel, which I got, then I had to follow up with him to review the results and see next steps (even though results had been available for several days). I was surprised about the lack of follow up or apparent care. But maybe I was misreading the situation. During the original appt, he offered a cortisone / lidocane shot to alleviate the pain, so I agreed to that, and that has helped me tremendously over the last month, so thats where the 3-stars comes from. Office was very professional and easy to get ahold of, but then they mis-scheduled my appointment, so that was frustrating, but I chalk that up to an honest mistake. As a result of all of this, I will not be coming back to Dr. Simotas

I would say consistency is wonderful when it comes to Dr Simotas. I know I don't have a basic case which has pushed other doctors from helping me. Regardless of the difficulty he took the time to review my chart before he came into the my room to see me. He was patient and informed as he spoke to me discussing the best course of action for me to take. I appreciate his sincerity in how he is approaching my case and not rushing me and explaining my plan of care.

Dr Simotas is a consummate professional. He spent 30 minutes with me to carefully review my symptoms and provided a clear diagnosis missed by five other specialists. After 18th months of symptoms I finally had a therapeutic path and relief of symptoms.
