A great venue to go to to watch performances, and while it may feel small at times, the theatre is really beautifully designed.

The nicest, kindest, most wonderful staff I've ever had the pleasure of meeting. I would actually just buy a ticket to chat with them all again. The show was of course excellent but i carry as many memories of it as i do of the people i met. Would go back the second I'm in NYC again.

Very good theatre in best traditions of old theatres. The show was awesome. Everywhere friendly and helpful staff, which were real professionals. They always had smiles and seemed to enjoy their jobs. We booked the tickets on-line and it wasn’t any problem to change them (tickets already waited for us in the envelope) and there was no queue. There are two full-service bars. Very good and easy-finding location. Situated near Times Square on 44th Street, between Millennium Broadway Hotel and The Premier Hotel. We would defently return. We were sitting in the orchestra, so the faces and all the show was very near to us and so it was very cool to see all the emotions of the actorsðŸ˜

Have you heard stories about the famous Savoy Nightclub between Times Square and 6th Avenue? What a placed that had to be! One of the hottest spots in the 80s. I have not been there, though. I just heard stories. However, I really enjoy it as the Hudson Theater. The Hudson is not among the largest venues, but certainly is among the oldest. It has a seating capacity of just 970, but was officially opened on October 19, 1903. Ethel Barrymore was the first on its stage, starring in Cousin Kate. It operated as a theater until the 1930s when it was turned into a radio studio for the CBS, and then it was a TV studio for the NBC. Then, between 1960 and 1968 it was a theater again, just to serve as an adult cinema between 1974 and 1980. Between 1980 and 1987 it was the famous Savoy Rock club, conference center, and part of a hotel. The Hudson made full circle back to a full – time theater yet again. The most recent shows on the stage of the Hudson were Burn This, Sea Wall/A Life, and American Utopia. It was expected to host a much – awaited revival of Plaza Suite starring Matthew Broderick and Sarah Jessica Parker.

About
Hudson Theatre
Situated just off Times Square in New York on 44th Street, the Hudson Theatre originally opened on October 19, 1903 with a production of Cousin Kate starring Ethel Barrymore. Built by Henry B. Harris, a famous Broadway producer of that period, the Hudson Theatre is one of New York City’s oldest Broadway showplaces. The 100-foot long lobby was the largest ever seen on Broadway at that time. On September 27, 1956 the first nationwide broadcast of “The Tonight Show†starring Steve Allen originated from the Hudson Theatre. It was granted landmark status for both its internal and external features in 1987.
