I want to let it be known that this school is very negligent and incompetent! DO NOT BRING YOUR KIDS TO THIS SCHOOL!!!! Go take them to P.S.28 which is on 155th and Amsterdam. They are more concerned and hands on over there. Back to PS153, this school when it comes to handling any of your concerns or issues you're going to be dismissed and treated with disrespect and attitude. Most of them look like they do some sort of drugs and are very unprofessional! Many parents have pulled their kids from this school this year. Their special Ed children don't even learn nothing in their classes because there's constant fighting everyday and they don't take no different approach to handle these situations. Secondly a girl just got sexually assaulted in this school about 3 weeks ago and the kid who did it is still attending this school. He didn't get suspended or told that he can't come to this school no more. He went into the girls bathroom and did something VERY INAPPROPRIATE to this girl. She's a 4th grader. Her doctor confirmed it and still the kid is attending this school. There are no monitors in the hall to make sure the kids are safe and are using the bathroom and going back to their class promptly. They are very understaffed! This school will make u catch a case because of their I don't care attitude. Do not bring your kids to this school!! I also want to let it be known that I left a lengthy review before and it was deleted.

There's some weird stuff on the internet about this school, and, from my experience, it's probably all true. We live around the corner from PS 153, and our child was accepted into the G&T program. How convenient! Well, it wasn't worth it. We pulled him out and sent him to a different PS three-quarters of the way through the school year.During the 2017-2018 year, at least 3 teachers quit by April. Currently, if your child is not in pre-K or kindergarten, they will not have recess. At the moment, Principal Bailey is blaming this on the disrepair of the school's main playground, but I've been told that she has a history of keeping the children locked down in the cafeteria. That's certainly what happened this year. No effort was made to find alternate physical activities for a whole school of children. When we and other parents went on the tour, we were told the children got recess every day. If they tell you this, please do more research, because it is probably untrue.Find a school that values and encourages parental involvement. Find a school that can afford to buy staples for the teachers, instead of just iPads for the principal and vice principal. Find a school where it's not appropriate to blow a whistle at children in the classroom. Find a school that is not this school.Good luck.
