In my 18 years of life I've never had a doctor as rude, unkind, and as inconsiderate as Dr. Fisher. I went to Doctor Fisher to best understand how I could healthily pursue a vegan diet. Rather than giving me earnest and good medical advice as to how I could pursue a healthy vegan diet he said that there was no way to do so (which is medically disproven). After I showed him the evidence that veganism is a healthy way to live he dismissed me and said that I had an eating disorder for wanting to 'cut out so many food options'. He asked me why I wanted to go vegan (in his attempts to be a psychologist) and I said that I wanted to do whats best for the environment and an omnivorous diet made me feel guilty. Rather than respecting my choices he said: -I was making excuses to mask my 'real problems' -That I would fall of my growth pyramid -That I certainly had an eating disorder -And that my impact as an individual would be so insignificant that I shouldn't even attempt it After weeks of going to him, and temporarily giving up veganism, he said that my 3,000 calorie diet was not sufficient and that I would have to eat even more. After eating over 3,000 calories for several weeks in a row I didn't gain a single pound. Not one. Dr. Fisher didn't seem to think that there could be any medical explanation for why I couldn't gain weight (despite eating exactly what I was told to and in excess). He continuously accused me of having an eating disorder and on one occasion slyly implied that I may be throwing up my food (which I was not). He did not take into account that my siblings are also extremely skinny people and they also cannot put on weight. I presented Dr. Fisher with evidence that a vegan diet was healthy and he wouldn't look at it. He said that my efforts were ridiculous and that I was making excuses for my underlying eating disorder which he claimed I "refused to admit to myself". A doctor that cannot refuse evidence with evidence is not a good doctor nor a person worth trusting. Jackie, the nutritionist he worked alongside with, was alright but didn't take into account that me not gaining weight wasn't a choice despite how much I was eating. Both Jackie and Doctor Fisher continuously said to me that "they only help people who want to be helped" when I was a person that didn't need help with an eating disorder. If they were true professionals they would have recognized that I wasn't suffering from an eating disorder, I was suffering from a diet that made me guilty and they were trying to change my morals and ethics. A final note. Even if I was suffering from an eating disorder it the way to comfort a person who has an unhealthy relationship with food is not to tell them what I was told. Helping someone with an eating disorder doesn't include forcing them to eat foods that they do not like or cannot consume without some moral obligation. You do not tell people that you 'only help people who want to be helped'. You certainly do not tell patients that their efforts are meaningless and that their impact is insignificant. You work with people to make a meal plan that suits both their comfort level and their needs. The fact that I was not suffering from an eating disorder and that I was being misdiagnosed was absolutely abhorrent since doctors should know the differences between dietary choices and anorexia/bulimia. I have been vegan for five months and recently got a blood test to make sure I was not nutrient deficient. My current doctor said that all of my nutrient levels are good and that I am perfectly healthy. Do not go to a doctor that practices pseudoscience based on their opinions and refuses to listen to peer reviewed medical journals. Go to any other doctor. Go to a doctor that respects your diet and morals. Go to a doctor that wants to help rather than change you. Don't go to Dr. Fisher.

Office staff is extremely disrespectful they do not respect the patient's wishes they make you feel trapped. This place is filled with a bunch of nurses and doctors who love to play mind games. They will tell you the "patient" one thing and tell your loved ones another at the end of the day if you were a patient at this place it's your wishes and your well being that should be respected not theirs I've never felt so uncomfortable in an office in my life

I agree that the staff is rude (the ones that show you to exam room and take vitals), but that doesnt take away from the fact that Dr. Fisher is an excellent doctor. He is very knowledgeable and takes the time to get to know his patients and their issues. I just try to ignore the rude behavior of these women because I value Dr. Fishers expertise and thoroughness in treating my daughter.
