Only one person allowed in the emergency room at once while my sister is suffering from a major illness. I was told by a nasty security guard to Sit in the car. You cant sit in the lobby it is revered for patients. Meanwhile there were at least 25 empty seats. Terrible hospital! Multi-million dollar private hospital built on the back of tax payers and they have the audacity to kick me out of their lobby! Rude staff, horrible and depressing experience!

Last time I'll be going to Garnett even for an emergency and I only live 10 miles away. Outside of the nursing staff, there's very little good to say about my experience after spending two nights. Over the course of the 2 days I saw a doctor for a total of 5-10 minutes. The Nuerologist I saw provided little to no explanation about the findings on my MRI. I was admitted with dizziness and they had no ENT staff to rule out any vestibular issues, let alone have the tools to even LOOK in my ears in the ward I was in. When I scheduled a follow up with their neurology team we were told it would be the following Thursday over the phone. When I arrived they said it was actually the thursday after that. When the next Thursday rolled around the doctor canceled that morning. On top of all of this there were ants in the room I was staying in. This facility is understaffed and not equipped to help those they need. This is the first time time I've felt compelled to leave a review on Google but I felt this warranted it.

I used to love Garnet but the care there is absolutely horrible now. I was misdiagnosed with Labrynthitis and Bell's Palsy while in the ER when it was actually Ramsay Hunt Syndrome due to Shingles. I explained that my friend who is a nurse said it sounds like Ramsay Hunt. They said that's rare and asked if I have TMJ (same thing I was told when diagnosed with Guillain Barre Syndrome which is also rare and they were informed about). They said I was on all the right meds for Bell's Palsy and Shingles bc my ENT had prescribed me a taper of 40mg of prednisone and 1600mg a day of acyclovir. I was not. They refused to do blood work, refused to call a neurologist in or to admit me to have an MRI because my vitals were fine. I insisted on a CT which they said came back fine but its not as good as an MRI. Then why wouldn't they give me an MRI?? When my mother asked about the neurologist coming in, the NP literally walked out while she was midsentence saying thats not necessary. We were shocked. They said if my condition worsened to come back. It worsened the next day so I went back. My nurse friend told me to insist they call the neurologist. They kept telling me they did a thorough workup the day before and these things take time. I wasn't leaving until they contacted a neuro. After they finally contacted the neurologist, he let them know I was on half the dose of prednisone I should be on for Bell's Palsy. Explains why my condition worsened. Wish they had contacted the neuro the first day. My nurse friend was able to call in the correct dosage of antivirals for Ramsay Hunt for me (also double the dose of antivirals that was I was on) the next day since the hospital refused to diagnose me with it. After finally getting an MRI yesterday, it's confirmed I have Ramsay Hunt which would have been best treated with high dose of intravenous steroids and antivirals. This could have been done in the hospital had they listened to me and put 2 and 2 together that Shingles plus facial paralysis, hearing loss, vertigo and vision loss is literally the diagnosis for Ramsay Hunt Syndrome. They told me in the hospital that there was no difference between taking pills or receiving the meds intravenously. I know that's not true. I'm so disgusted with the care I received, the level of respect given to us and with the misdiagnosis because what I have is rare. Just because it's rare doesn't mean it's not possible and it's your job to check this. I should not have to be on the brink of death to be treated properly. Maybe if they had listened to my symptoms, done the appropriate bloodwork and done the MRI they would've seen inflammation of my cranial nerves and I could have been treated for Ramsay Hunt immediately. The sooner it's treated properly, the better your chance of recovery. Now I spent two ER visits for them to do absolutely nothing for me except increase my prednisone the second time I went. If it weren't for my nurse friend, I probably would have continued to worsen. And now I may have permanent facial paralysis, hearing loss and vision loss, which was very minimal first day I went and progressed to a much worse paralysis in the days it took me to get on the right dose of meds. You need to get it together Garnet Health. You're just going to kill people if your doctors don't listen to their patients and take them seriously. I wasn't crazed. I'm not in the hospital often for dumb things, so for me to get ignored like that and written off bc what I have is rare was truly a horrible experience. ***edit to add my MRI shows mastoiditis, something I complained about in the ER but they never checked my mastoid when they did my CT. Said I wasn't feverish so that couldn't be it. I could have been treated immediately and instead was left with fluid eroding my mastoid for the past week. Thanks a lot***

A family member was admitted via ambulance due to a stroke. Overall the staff here are amazing healthcare professionals. Lashawnda in the ER was great. Matt & Nadine in Critical Care have hearts of gold. Nick, Jamie (especially Jamie!!) , Nettie and other nurses in the ICU are nothing short of amazing. Jenna on 4 South is a doll. There were other people such as nurse managers who were stellar as well. Deago the patient technician, his coworker David and other ICU patient techs were so caring. (Feel bad I forgot names!) The community is lucky the majority of the techs we encountered are in the process of becoming nurses because they were dedicated and helpful. Every doctor we encountered was knowledgeable, caring and proactive about getting the best care for their patient. The facility is easy to access and clean. The security personnel are friendly and do an excellent job making you feel safe. The staff in the cafeteria are friendly and helpful. Leaving off a star because the only negative I experienced was Gina, the ER charge nurse. I truly hope if she ever has the misfortune of having a sick family member that she experiences an individual like herself. Empathy with her is non-existent and she clearly puts throwing around her "importance" over the well being of patient family members. She made an already stressful situation much worse. There was also a front desk worker (older, Hispanic woman), who fancied herself to be law enforcement. She berated myself and another family member one day for what she perceived as us breaking the rules and going up early. Meanwhile we had been told by her coworker (who called the ICU) we were cleared to proceed. We were already stressed because our family member was in a fragile state and on a ventilator. We didn't need to be screamed at and embarrassed in front of a room full of people on top if it as we were not breaking any rules.
