Highly recommend Hillside. Our 1 year old son loves it there. They have a nice big backyard with vegetable garden and trees where the children have a lot of outdoor time. The teachers are all amazing, professional and loving. I couldn't wish for a better care for my son.

A great little nursery on a quiet block of Kingston. Our son loves it there, playing outside under the trees, snacking on vegetables from their garden in the summer, and taking walks with the other kids around the scenic and historic Rondout neighborhood.

Lifesaver! We were based at Bard College in nearby Annandale-on-Hudson for June and July 2015 and needed a nursery for our (almost) 2 year old daughter during our stay. It would be her first nursery experience and we naturally wanted to make sure it would be a happy one. Living in Germany we had to choose somewhere using the limited information available online. In other words we had to go with our gut instinct. Looking back I think the home-setting of Hillside was attractive, we liked the sound of the teacher biogs and their play-based learning philosophy. Now that the 2 months are over I have just one criticism of Hillside. Their website doesn't nearly do it justice (check out their FB page instead)! The place is an absolute gem. Our daughter loved it from the first day and I feel genuinely worried that whatever nursery we find back in Germany will disappoint by comparison. Picture a 2 year old running to the car each morning, screams of joy and excitement at the prospect of another day at Hillside. The place is great, a wonderful large garden, swings, slides, hammocks, sand pits etc... a kids paradise! And the staff, warm, committed, serious. The kind of people you know you can trust with your kids. Thank you Hillside! We'll be back!

The teachers here provide quality care, are extremely professional and will love your child like you do when you are not there. Also, according to my son, their sand box is THE best sandbox in Kingston and their outdoor and indoor play area is a ton of fun and never gets old. My son, who is 4, says he wishes he could be his sister's age so he could attend Hillside. That's a 5 star review in my book!

Our son has been attending Hillside Nursery since he was 10 months old.  He is very sensitive and had a difficult time adjusting in the beginning.  Cheryl, the owner, along with Katelyn, teacher, were wonderful and worked with us to figure out how to make the morning transition smoother.  They switched around their morning schedule to make sure they started with our son's favorite activity and that showed me how dedicated and caring they were.  I highly recommend this program to anyone - they are nature-focused and spend lots of time outdoors in the sandbox, play-set and garden.
