Awesome Place with a great atmosphere. As soon as you walk in you feel an overwhelming sense of mutual love and respect for everyone involved at Hudson Valley Sudbury School. The Staff are just as sweet as the kids.... Plus everyone is so open, honest and respectful towards one another.

The transformation in our son has been remarkable since his attending this school. He is so much more confident, empowered, and cooperative! This model obviously works and there is just no doubt about it.

The HV Sudbury School is a unique place where kids ages 5-18 co-exist and learn from each other at their own rate and in the areas of their own interest. It's actually not a "school" in the normal sense of the word, rather it's a democratic environment that respects the curiosity of youth and cultivates the kind of learning that is innate in life. Because Sudbury lets students choose how to spend their time, the kids actually have to check in with their own thoughts and feelings and experience failed attempts and disappointments in a way that is not possible in a traditional school where everything is all laid out for them. They also have the opportunity to truly celebrate their accomplishments and learn valuable communication and collaboration skills. If academics are very important to you, this is probably not a good fit. If you like the idea of a fun but organized, democratic environment that empowers your child to discover him or herself, you might wanna check this place out.
