Filed a disability claim over the course of a year as usual for anxiety and autism. When it came to the hearing, the judge asked the clerk what jobs I am capable of performing which would make me ineligible for disability. The clerk listed a number of jobs in which I already know I am not capable of working for the same reasons as any other job. The lawyer did not in anyway argue against my ability to work. I was alone with the lawyer at the hearing and I am a very shy depressed person. If someone was pummeling me to the ground, I might not fight back despite my size. When the claim was denied, I received a letter in the mail telling me that it was denied and this law office no longer wishes to represent me. They said I was welcome to find another law office and try again. Lawyers are only paid upon successful claims. It is known for people with conditions like mine that it often takes multiple hearings for approval. But this office dropped me by snailmail during the middle of a pandemic. I still cannot work. I in many ways cannot advocate for myself as other people can. It was extremely unprofessional and hurtful for this law office to drop my case without any substantial communication or resources. It shows that the firm did not care about me as a client and has only exacerbated my depression. How can anyone be surprised that mentally ill people lash out mentally or physically when they cannot trust their lawful representation in helping them live a normal life?
Perhaps they should stick to real estate.

"if we withdrew, it was our belief the case was not winnable"
Your office withdrew without any discussion between us about why my claim is potentially unwinnable. It was dismissive of my disability and disrespectful towards me to receive a scant letter which tells me I was denied and that I have to find other counsel in practically the next sentence. It felt like a door being slammed in my face which gave no reassurance to have faith in the system and is partially why I have failed to pursue my claim since. Which has led me to repeatedly attempt to work and fail.
The idea that you would drop an "unwinnable" case without elaboration is reminiscent of inpatient treatment which view their patients as bodies to fill beds. You are allowed to be content with your case loss while your dismissed clients stumble in the darkness.

William “Bill†Chellis and his amazing team handled my recent real estate purchase in Sullivan county. As an attorney myself I hold the lawyers I hire (and their staff) to a very high standard. I was incredibly pleased with the work Bill and his team did for me. Great communication. Attention to detail. It’s really nice to see there is still this kind of ethical, smart and tenacious attorney out there who really “watches your back†as a client yet still manages to be the kind of person you can enjoy speaking with. I would highly recommend William Chellis to anyone looking for an experienced, professional and “five star†attorney in the Sullivan county area. I’m not surprised he’s the lawyer so many contractors and realtors in that area use and recommend. I will, after my great experience, confidently share his name with all my personal and professional colleagues in the future.

Was referred to this office for a disability claim. All of my life, I have been told that people like me would have to go through multiple hearings until claim approval. After being denied, the office immediately sent an envelope with 2 forms. One of them was the hearing denial, and the other was one saying that they did not want to file an appeal for the case. I was not made any recommendations as to who else might be able to. This says that the office does not care about its clients such as myself, but only wants to pursue cases it can quickly profit off of. It feels like being kicked out of a moving car.
