        Looking for a fun activity for my kid to get into shape for the summer, as theres no gym in her school and no proper gym class. Sensai knows his stuff but this was not a good fit for us. If you make a mistake- he hits you. If you cry, no one cares. The parents sitting down and the class all laugh while you get bullied and pushed around. Its like the jokes on you. Honestly if he didnt hit the kids (with sticks, hands, pads) I would love this place. I like strict teachers but I hate abusive ones. I cant pay someone to do this to my kid.

        Firstly as a parent I highly recommend Sunrise karate its one of the best Dojos in the queens area with one of the best and educated Sensei I may be able to ever come across. I took my son Brendan 3 years ago believe me he loved it from the start he actually just obtained he black belt also with a lot of hard work and dedication Sensei Weber is an awesome teacher yes he may be hard at times but who can blame him its his job but he also have a lot of patients and treats everyone equally. I highly recommend Sunrise Karate.

      Sorry your daughter didn't enjoy the class. The pork chop doesn't hurt. It takes some getting used to, that's all. I hope you find something you find acceptable for your daughter. Best of luck. I realized afterwards that's the class might have been a bit much for the uninitiated. I have trained many successful students who have become capable of defending themselves. As the master of the school, I have to wear many hats. Sometimes I have to play the role of bully. If you cannot get up when you've been knocked down, there's not much I can teach you. I have many parents who absolutely love what I do. The dojo is not a nursery school or day care center.

      Brendan has always set a fine example. Never makes excuses. Always shows up with a good attitude. It's been an honor to be his first martial arts instructor.
