Recently we contacted B&S to take care of various issues from drainage to accessible access. The job was done in a few days but we were disappointed that they did not consult with us about some of the landscaping as well as the fact the accessible sidewalk they created is also falling apart. Furthermore, crabgrass has begun overtaking some of the areas they put flowers in. Another issue we've had has been trying to reach them to get some issues resolved. We are hoping this is caused by their being busy due to the high demand for landscaping this time of year.

Short version: Don't hire this company. I don't know if the issue is company-wide, but some of their crew have either no idea what they are there for or simply do not care. I watched them go about their work and noted a few things:1. This crew in the Kingston, NY area was all about speed at the expense of precision. Instead of having a completed, efficient job done the right way, they seemed to be rushing through the job simply to get somewhere else. This was evident by the following:  a. Lawn cutting height. They went over even ground with the larger zero-point mowers and would produce inconsistent results; i.e random cutting heights. Whether this was produced solely from their crew rushing through the job, poorly maintained equipment or some combination, I could not tell. They would not come back to correct the issue either, so you would be left with a lawn that looks like a genuinely bad haircut until the next time they came around.  b. Clippings left behind. While they did eventually send a worker through with a blower, the heavy mowers they worked the job with all have dual baggers, they still managed to leave large amounts of grass clippings behind; on the sidewalks, walkways, driveways and even large swaths in the roadway (which is illegal in NYS and dangerous for some traffic). I could not tell if the baggers were non-functional or perhaps full, but they just kept on mowing.  c. Damaged lawns. They came through on a very rainy day this past month, while it was still slightly raining and the ground was soft so their heavier equipment damaged a few lawns. While I will agree it's part of the job from time to time that a mishap like that does occur, the fact that they made no attempt to correct the issue isn't acceptable. I would also call into question their timing by performing the landscaping on a day that is simply not suitable for it.  d. Their crew damaged a few decorative bushes/shrubs that I noted and left the pieces laying in the lawn. Again, this happens from time to time but I would wager had they not been rushing through this job they may have been successful in keeping that number down to a bare minimum or even not at all. In this case as well, there was no effort to address the issue. I could go on, but honestly, I saw enough to make me wonder how this company allows this to happen. There is simply no logical justification for it. If you go to their Facebook page you will see they state quite clearly they strive to "provide the highest quality, customer-focused landscaping, lawn care, landscape maintenance" and "At Baker and Son Landscaping, we're not satisfied until you're completely happy with the service you've received." Also that the customer will "benefit from the utmost in quality care".You've heard the old adage "Actions speak louder than words". From what I have seen so far I would call into question their dedication to those statements they made, their professionalism and their overall competence. Your lawn deserves better. You deserve better.

These guys work magic. They can bring a dead lawn back to life like no one else can. 2 years ago we moved out of their service area and tried another company with very disappointing results. I begged Baker and Sons to service our area offering to pay a travel fee and cant wait for them to start work!
