After requesting a NYS minimum coverage car insurance policy on Progressive's website, Progressive assigned me to Upstate Agency, and while other agents affiliated with Progressive were closer to myself. Upstate informs me they do not write policies for less than $100,000/300,000, which of course is Far-higher than state minimums, in this manner: A customer service "Michelle" tells me they offer state minimums after signing a hardcopy form. Then upon further inquiry as to why this form was not offered when i requested State minimums an office manager Nancy tells me they do not even offer policies at less 100/300. Have not done so for years. Does "Michelle" suffer from 'confirmation bias' in never having seen an insured request & receive State minimums, but in convincing herself the insured may request State minimums but having never complained after being set at 100/300 "must mean" the insured 'never really wanted' State minimums? And encouraged by Nancy to _practice_ 'confirmation bias' despite Nancy assuring the insured "we have not offered State minimums for years"? It certainly appeared that is the dynamic. The discrepancy in "versions" was left, ultimately, for myself to figure out. And after Nancy let me know when initiating the policy i was "lucky" to be receiving this policy, with an accident-free driving history and a DWI-free driving history. Leaving me, Again, to discern the "version" of reality. In summation, i have found Upstate to be disingenuous at almost every step of respectful interaction, fueled largely by their diverting response to why my monthly premiums began to escalate a little over a year ago, with no driving event triggering it. Increased accident rates? Post proof. As we see in the supermarkets, entitled 'producers' are described best, thusly: They are "jealous" of their profits. Contemplate that phrase, and the puzzle of the _religion_ called 'corporate arrogance' .. is unlocked.
