I was referred in by one of my friends who insisted that they were unlike other traditional tutors and she had her kids there for years. I originally didn't really want to drive to Flushing because Little Neck and Great Neck has tutoring centers and I live in the area, so I was hoping to stay close by, but after sending my kids to a few places in the area and not getting positive responses from them, I relented and made an appointment to stop by Premier in Flushing to take a look and meet the team. Apparently they had just finished renovating so they had movable glass walls and doors to give it a bigger, airy, bright feeling. I think the only part I couldn't look into was the bathroom (which obviously makes sense. Lol). I spoke with Calvin, who was super warm, nice, and knowledgeable, which I was surprised by because he looked so young, but his chuckle implied that he was probably not as young as I thought. He was super helpful in giving me suggestions about how to help motivate my kids, studying techniques for regular school, and different strategies for standardized tests. Calvin did not act like he was running a business at all....he didn't push me to register my kids or leave a deposit. He told me to go home and think about it and let him know if my kids wanted to come listen to the class and then decide what to do. He even told me that I could contact him anytime if I ever had questions about anything like high school classes, college applications, grad/med school applications for FREE even if my kids didn't sign up for classes. I was speechless and touched by his warmth and generosity. Needless to say, I let my kids try his classes and, not shockingly, my kids actually enjoy going to his classes because they said he is very good at explaining things in a dynamic way. He also has a good way to help them review and do practice without having to make them do it in a tedious manner. It's also nice that he is encouraging and gives them useful life advice. I am really happy my kids are excited about learning and are doing well in school, so driving from long island to Flushing is a small price to pay to find such a high quality gem.

Not so long ago one of my co-workers and I were talking about how difficult it was to raise teenagers and of course the subject of taking the SATs came up and she told me that her kids hated tutoring prior to finding the team at Premier. So of course I was interested. I broached the topic with my daughter, who was adamant that she could handle everything on her own, so I let her try her hand at the SAT first. Of course I had already spoken to Calvin at Premier, so I had an idea of how they were like as people and how they ran classes. Calvin was super friendly and provided so much information about high school, colleges, and grad/medical school questions. He didn't even push me to bring her in or sign up for classes. It was kind of unusual, but in a good way because he clearly isn't business oriented. Good for me, not for him. lol Long story short, unfortunately for my daughter, she didn't do so well on the SAT, so l convinced her to at least speak to Calvin. He definitely has a way with teens because she seemed to be very receptive to how he was and everything he said. I was happy that she was willing to try out a class. Calvin had warned me already that the SAT classes started a little while back, but he was willing to let her sit in on a class before deciding what to do, which I thought was very nice of him. Needless to say, even though she missed the beginning classes, she said that he was very humorous and able to explain things in a very clear and easy manner and she learned a bunch of tricks in class. Calvin even let her stay after class to give her a quick summary of strategies she missed by not coming to class at the beginning of the cycle. Fast forward a few months, but her reading comprehension score went from a 530 to a 720. I don't know what they are teaching, but it seems to be fun and effective, so I am not going to pursue this matter obviously. She was so happy that she convinced her brother to attend their Chemistry and Algebra 2 class. His grades also started to improve after going to Premier. I feel so much less stress now, so I would highly recommend checking out the team at Premier.

This review is so long overdue. I don't know why I never thought of giving them a five star review. If I could give them 10 stars out of 5, I would. That's how awesome I think they are. The people at Premier Aptitude always go above and beyond. Not once did I or my kids ever feel like this place was trying to run a business (in the good way). I actually felt like I and everyone else was underpaying them for everything they have done for not just my kids, but everyone else's kids who pass through their doors. They gave my kids volunteer and job opportunities, experience, and life skills. They really treat everyone who goes to Premier like family. My kids were initially resistant to go just because they were a little traumatized by the other tutoring centers, but we were all pleasantly surprised after their first experience at Premier. My kids would always come back from class there and tell me about things they learned in class not just about math or science, but also tricks and strategies they learned from Mr. Paung, Calvin, and Lamont that were applicable in the real world. Premier also answered questions for the kids outside of the classroom 24/7 it seems and for FREE and even when they were out of town! I had no idea that they were providing so much free help to the kids. They truly are very kind, dedicated, warm people who really want the kids who pass through their doors to succeed. It's no wonder my kids were never willing to try other tutoring centers after going to Premier. My kids are both in college now and they told me that whenever they ask Calvin and Mr. Paung for help, those two still answer their questions for them for free. In a world where nothing is free and it seems like everyone is always trying to get something from you, Premier really goes against the grain. There were times I tried to give them extra money for their efforts and they profusely refused to accept that money. They really are an exceptional group of people. I am forever grateful that I and my kids were able to cross paths with them. I am sure our lives took a huge turn for the better. If you are looking for a stellar tutoring center with exemplary people who truly deliver, look no further. You can find it at Premier.
