The Beacon Program

The Beacon program was in MS 45 in the Bronx when I went, it was awesome. I had the best time and great people worked there. I know it may have changed over the years but it was great when I went.

It's not the best program at all because they let you play games and don't discipline kids that much and teachers don't pay the most attention

My 14 year old son tried the program out at JHS 194 this past week. Attempted to play some basketball with his friends. After putting his name down on a list to play, his name was crossed off by a heavy set administrator with a beard and told to wait for next. My son waited patiently for the game to end and when it was over, the same administrator left him out of the next game while the same ten kids played 5 on 5. My son who is on the smaller side tried to plead his case with this administrator and the last thing he was told was too bad. Seems like they have big time TOOLS on power trips running things! Never again!!!

Im looking for an equal chance to get in this program. No notice date for the registration and no hear anything from waiting list? Many phones numbers keep changing and no one answers!
