My family gave Louis Pizzichillo and The Pizzichillo Agency Inc., a Nationwide Insurance Broker, our family's business for over 20 years. Recently my father had fallen ill, and with the insurance policies for two family properties coming due, I called up Nationwide directly to determine if our coverage needed any alterations.

Nationwide told me that we had "no reconstruction coverage" on our insurance policy, meaning that if there was a fire or water damage to our coop apartment (not from a flood or natural disaster), we would receive $0 - yes zero - reimbursement.

When subsequently confronted, Mr. Pizzichillo arrogantly stated the Nationwide representative was incorrect, that we had approximately $4,400 in reconstruction insurance. Yes, only $4,400!!! So, in the year 2021, Louis Pizzichillo found it acceptable to leave my family extremely vulnerable with minimal protection if our kitchen or bathroom, or entire coop apartment, would be damaged. Basically, the $60,000 kitchen and two $20,000 bathrooms my family installed back in 2002 were left virtually unprotected for the past 18 years.

When our policy was set to expire and our current invoice was past due, we did receive multiple calls from The Pizzichillo Agency Inc. to remind us that coverage was about to expire and to renew. Translation: they knew exactly when to reach out when it affected their bottom line.

Louis Pizzichillo and his business earned thousands of dollars from my family over the past 20 years and didn't once alert us to any recommended adjustments, he simply continued to collect his commission without regard for my family's well being and protection.

Isn't that the reason for using an insurance broker in the first place? You look to them for their expertise in the selection of insurance companies, the nuances of their policies and the calculation of adequate coverage.

In the case of Louis Pizzichillo and his agency, his level of disregard for my family is what compelled me to write this review in the hope that someone will read it and look elsewhere for the protection their family deserves. Why? Because we purchase insurance for peace of mind and to protect our loved ones, and that's why we seek out and hire an insurance broker in the first place. Everyone deserves an insurance broker who can be trusted to do the due diligence and keep their customers well protected in the face of tragedy. Sadly, Louis Pizzichillo didn't care enough to do that for my family.
