I realize that lots of people love this post office, but it's actually the worst postal delivery situation I've ever encountered. Here are a few observations: 1. Today the carrier left a slip indicating that the "missed me" while trying to deliver a package. I was home the entire time, and no one knocked on my door or rang the doorbell. This was an important package and I wasn't given the opportunity to even receive it. 2. I receive mail for my neighbor almost monthly. This includes things like bills. I don't think the carrier even checks to prevent this from happening. We've also received mail for other people who are over a mile away. 3. The mail carrier doesn't get out of their vehicle to deliver packages to the front door. They simply put it in front of the garage door, exposed to the elements. Another downside to putting it there is that since she never knocks or rings the doorbell, we don't know when packages like this are delivered. On contrast, UPS and FexEx have never done this. They do the normal thing and place the item near the front entry to my home. Overall, this experience is not good. I think something needs to change.
