My husband and I lived in the beautiful barn property in Brooktondale. We absolutely loved it there. The community was awesome, and Josh was very responsive if we ever needed a handyman in the apartment. He was also incredibly understanding when we had to break our lease early (I was hired somewhere over an hour away, so we had to move). To this day, he is a great friend of ours!

I would definitely recommend Josh and his company to anyone looking for housing. I lived at one of their properties in Ithaca, NY until April 2020. And from my experience from the stay as well as from interacting with Josh has been excellent. He was very professional and responsive about everything. I could not have hoped for a better experience given some of the abnormal circumstances I was in during the time and the fact that Josh understood them and worked a way to help me out. Again, highly recommend their business to anyone.

My boyfriend and I lived in the Brooktondale barn property for 2 years. The property certainly has its quirks (it is, after all, a very old barn in a large field), but they're all things that are to be expected when you live a bit outside of town. If/when we encountered any maintenance issues, Josh was quick to respond and concerns were very promptly addressed by a handyman. We especially appreciated that Josh kept us in the loop for property maintenance issues at the barn and not just our handful of apartment-specific concerns. We only met Josh in-person twice, once for our apartment tour and once to get our keys for move-in, but spoke to him plenty via email. He's a friendly, off-the-cuff guy that we enjoyed having as a landlord. If we were staying in the area, we'd have loved to keep renting from Josh.

Here is the deal about Josh Cope and Green Scope properties. I wish I could leave a zero star review. Below Ive attached a real email Josh sent me before I moved into my unit and an image of the unit after my group left during the period when the subsequent group moved in. Josh is a slum lord plain and simple. The unit I was living in should be condemned. When the fire department responded to a smoke alarm they told me that the building was not up to code and unsafe. As you can see in the image below the ceiling began to collapse in one of the rooms. In the letter Josh compares himself to a used car salesman which I would say is very generous. As you can see in the letter he is a very rude man who tends to ramble on like a meth head. Josh is purposely misleading and a terrible landlord. If you want to live in a rat infested hell hole with ceilings collapsing down on you stay with Green Scope, otherwise I would suggest any prospective renter to stay far far away.

Unfortunately, the landlord has a habit of taking advantage of first time renting college students. Beware Cornell students; do not rent with Joshua Cope. He can be very manipulative with your money and difficult to work with. The house also did not come clean, but was expected to be professionally cleaned upon return. Charged $80 for "towel left behind" at move out despite being left with visible dirt and maintenance needed upon move in and told "the apartment gets a broom clean sweep" when complaints were shared at move in. Wishing I had paid a little more for a better college apartment to avoid this type of landlord.
