Jacob was very nice and a good listener but he nearly got me killed by not treating my bipolar disorder properly. He had me on the same medication (latuda) even though it wasnt working for me and it was giving me side effects. I was growing increasingly depressed and suicidal. Finally, I admitted myself to the hospital where my team put me on lithium and I was better within a few weeks. While I was hospitalized, Jacob informed me he cannot treat a patient who needs my level of care because I told him I was on lithium and would need lithium levels drawn. He said he cannot do that from his office which is odd. All of the psych MDs and NPs write scripts for outside labs. Makes me wonder if he knows how to treat patients with BPD.

Dr. Leivent helped me during a mental health crisis. Hes a very good active listener, empathic, flexible, collaborative, and validating. He has an optimistic outlook, but proceeds with caution when appropriate, in terms of prescribing psychotropics. Also, while he cant divulge session info regarding adult children, he will listen to parental input to make his diagnosis and render corresponding treatment options. Hes highly knowledgeable in his field and experienced in working with a diverse group of clients from all age groups. Highly recommend.

I've been going to Dr. Leivent for over a year. After seeing multiple therapist and psychiatrists, I finally found somebody who cares upon your first visit. He is judgement free, kind, easy to get in touch with, (gives clients his personal phone number) and an excellent doctor. He was able to diagnose me with the conditions I currently still have after countless doctors gave me the wrong medicine which made everything worse. He frequently checks in with me between appointments as well. He is an excellent and professional psychiatrist and I would recommend him to anybody.
