Unpleasant and unprofessional customer service - I came to them on a friends personal recommendation and was met by a snooty person on the phone who wanted to make sure I was aware just how much they did not want my business - happy to oblige

UNRELIABLE. All excuses, no performance. Barry Frier owner/operator and Crew at Baobab Frames & Art Services completely lack integrity. The lack of professional character reminds me why I stopped buying works on paper and photography for 7 years. Barry is a panic-prone, anxiety-ridden proprietor who breaches his contractual promises and legal obligations with impunity; and, takes no responsibility for his (lack of) actions. And, when he fails to meet his professional obligations, his team make excuses for him. Barry and team agree to frame art works and photography, then after holding onto the work for 4-6 months, without any job performance, suddenly inform that the best course of action, is to decide not to do the framing. Then Barry claims he is doing us a favor and its whats best for his patiently waiting customers, while the team pretends the art for framing isnt really there to be framed. All the while holding thousands of dollars in advance funds. Barry follows-up on his rotating excuses, weakness and failures by adding insult to injury, trying to blame me and my clients for his failures and faults, because we imposed no urgent deadlines. Baobab is an embarrassment to a culture-based profession thats expected to bring joy, not aggravation. With erratic and unreliable professionals like Baobab, its apparent that business ethics are dead. Its understandable that the courts are clogged with litigation - Baobab agrees to do framing work, collects advance fees, does nothing for months, then returns the art that still needs to be framed and thinks its all resolved because the shop declares not our fault. Whose fault is the shops undependable and irresponsible disorganization? And, in returning art that Baobab accepted nearly 1/2 a year earlier, one piece (a Wyatt Kahn) was irreversibly damaged in its unnecessary transit and declared a total loss. Is that also not Baobabs fault? Thanks Baobab/Barry, Ill likely never again acquire art that requires framing. Unfortunately, Zero stars is not an option. NOT RECOMMENDED.
