REVIEW BASED ON TRYING TO BOOK AN APPOINTMENT ONLY (never saw the Doctor, she could be wonderful). Called the main number above, nice receptionist transferred me (shared office?), listen to obnoxious "on hold" music for 18 minutes and call was cut off! Despite, my better judgement, I called again. Nice receptionist transferred me again, I spoke to someone (receptionist, probably?) who asked, clearly irritated, "How can I help you?" I mentioned I needed a consult, did she have anything this week? "I have nothing this week." in a blunt tone. Okay, you don't have availability, but do you have to take such a tone?

I have been seeing Dr Gudi for maybe 25 years. He is always patient, kind, and thorough. And he listens. His nurses are great too! Nicole, who gets the referrals, is super efficient and sweet.

I struggle with Dr. Gudi, and my struggle is that, kind and decent as he is, he has no respect at all for the time of others. I have never been seen there within even an hour of my appointment, and it's been as much as two hours (with no end in sight), and I have walked out of the office and gone home at least once. It's very hard to find Internists in Park Slope, and Dr. Gudi is a kind man and a careful doctor. His excuse for these inordinate delays is that he takes his time. But after the first visit with me, he has taken my anger and frustration about the way he handles his appointments personally, and he gets hurt feelings, and then gives me no time at all. None of this is professionally acceptable--patients are not servants, and we have lives and jobs and things we must accomplish in our days. The last appointment, he was over an hour late, and I had another doctor I had to see. I had left a two hour window between appointments within walking distance, and Dr. Gudi made me late for my second appointment by taking a phone call for 20 minutes after the hour delay, and knowing I was already waiting for him in the examination room; he gave me almost no time even though it had been over a year since I had seen him, and had many things to discuss with him. This has become almost a passive/aggressive situation on his part. With regret, I am looking for a Doctor who will respect me as a person with a life and a job and time constraints like anyone else. It's just not a way to treat people. I have not yet found a new physician. Susan Brockman
