Dropped the Ball I've been an Allstate customer for two decades but recently moved all my policies to another carrier. I purchased a new home and wanted -- actually, needed -- to secure coverage. Reached out and after a long period of non-response despite several follow ups learned that Allstate did not write policies in my zip code. Why Allstate doesn't cover a suburb of NYC is a separate issue -- but that part wasn't their fault. THEIR fault was that they told me they could still keep the policy with them but get coverage through another carrier. After WEEKS passed with many promises to sort this out in a day or two that came and went, and my many follow ups despite promises to call me the next day that didn't happen, they informed me that they could not actually do what they suggested. Problem was, by that time, they totally ran out the clock and my mortgage financier threatened to withdraw because I hadn't lined up insurance, which forced me to delay the closing and left me scrambling and extremely anxious. But wait, there's more ... I would have left it at that and not posted this review except that AFTER this debacle, they actually sent me an email asking me to review them, evidently oblivious to their performance. They are basically nice guys -- which I threw in an extra star for -- but, no, they weren't there when I needed them.
