    Love what theyre doing at gowanus fitness! Been going since January and have definitely felt stronger and better since going. Coaches are super friendly and knowledgeable. Classes are well designed and relatively challenging but I always feel motivated to go. Open gym hours are a bit limiting (6-12 and 4-6pm M-F) but doing classes 2-3x a week should be good enough for your fitness needs. Would def recommend trying it out if youre in the area!

    Gowanus Fitness prenatal strength training classes were amazing to have during my pregnancy. Everyone is super supportive and friendly and youre able to modify your weight easily as you progress through your pregnancy. Ivana is a great instructor as well! She keeps the classes fun and engaging and reminds you to be kind to yourself during this challenging time. Shes also well versed in womens health and fitness in general. If youre in the area Id recommend giving Gowanus Fitness a try!

    Gowanus fitness is such a great gym and also a welcoming community. The coaches are knowledgable, encouraging, and helpful...truly fitness experts! I'm a total newbie to weightlifting and was a bit nervous going into my first class, but I was treated with kindness and attention to be sure my form was correct and safe. Making sure I have injury-free workouts is super important to me, and the coaches here are more than happy to accommodate and also help with any needs. All in all, a wonderful gym and friendly community. I highly recommend!

    I joined Gowanus Fitness 3 weeks ago after my previous CrossFit gym closed. As a lot of reviews mention, the facility and training staff are top notch. What I will add are: 1. Coaching & Form Correction: the coaches, especially Arturo have been really helpful in correcting deeply ingrained form issues that I have from doing CrossFit. Feeling a noticeable difference in how I feel in recovery. 2. Workout Intensity: despite not being CrossFit, the workouts are higher intensity. Whereas in a CrossFit class, you may only be "working out" 20-30 minutes over a 1 hour class, you're moving 98% of the time here. The "weightlifting" half of class is usually combined with a secondary movement, and the "WOD" is usually a bit longer.

    Ive been coming to Gowanus Fitness for about three months now. The staff and coaches are incredibly kind and interested in your performance. I feel such a sense of community going to classes and open gym here even though Im a bit shy and introverted. I feel welcomed and leave with an awesome workout. The classes focus on hybrid training, so I think if youre new to thatespecially the weight training aspectthe classes can be a bit intimidating at first. But for all new and old members, the coaches are fantastic. They give you individual attention where and when you need it the most. They have a sixth sense or something (Im looking at you Victor and Lyndsey). Ive had so much fun doing all sorts of movements I wouldnt have done by myself at the gymhandstands, ring rows, box jumps, crazy kettlebell exercises, sled pushes. The atmosphere is so motivating. After weightlifting and doing the treadmill for years by myself I was looking for something different, something focused on athleticism and mobility, and the classes here definitely fit the bill. I always look forward to coming, and I highly recommend joining.
