I have been a resident of Canarsie for 25 years and this fire house has been a beacon of our community. Often times the fire fighters roar pass my house as they go on their duty to rescue others and preserve property. They are rushing to the Belt Parkway, they rush to our homes, they come thru the community to flush fire hydrants. They save lives! I've had these stalwart rescuers in my own house a few times over the years. They were present when the electrical wires fell on the street during hurricane Sandy. Yesterday again, they rushed pass my house to respond to the house fire on Ave N. As I rushed to the scene of the fire I was full of pride to watch our NY Brave hard at work getting the water to flow, and attacking the fire that gave rise to the thick smoke that billowed from the roof of the burning house. Then sadness engulfed my heart as I watch the injured Brave being rushed by his colleagues to care. We appreciate and love you ladder 170/FDNY 257/ Battalion 58. We are sorry for your loss, our loss, Canarsie's loss. My condolences to the family of Timothy Klein, friends and colleagues.
