Very over priced, not alteration price.

A friend (who handles wardrobe for large TV media projects) recommended Happy Cleaners & Tailors II as having expert tailoring services at a reasonable cost. The shop has handled several complex suit, pant, and sport jacket alternations for me with with great result. I'm very satisfied. Their work saved me from having to replace several very expensive garments. The staff is friendly and knowledgeable. The dry cleaning work has also been good and is well priced relative to Manhattan. Highly recommended.

Avoid this place for anything other than a simple alteration, such as taking up pants or sewing on buttons. Their workers after at least 15 years barely speak a word of English and do not understand instructions. How anyone can be licensed to be a tailor when they cannot understand verbal instructions is beyond me. I would go over instructions with them numerous times, only to have them get it completely wrong. Only one person there speaks English fluently. They were able to repair several garments well. Their prices were reasonable. But this was outweighed by the general disorganization of the shop, with nothing computerized, and waiting up to 15 minutes for them to find my clothes, or having to make several trips while they searched for them. They ruined several of my garments. I took an expensive dress to them to be taken in, and they bolloxed the entire job, which I had to rip out and take to another tailor. The same thing happened at their sister store on Prospect Avenue, which did even worse quality work. I have since gone to E&L Tailor on Prospect Park West near 17th Street, a lovely shop run by a mother and daughter who are highly skilled and treat your garments with the care and respect they deserve.

Worst experience I have ever had in a dry cleaner. BE CAREFUL. They dry cleaned a coat and did not properly rinse the chemicals out. I had chemical burns on my hands, face, and neck where my skin was exposed to touching the fabric or my face from my fingers/hands transferring it. These burns lasted WEEKS... almost a month. I went and asked for 1. A refund, 2. To have my jacket cleaned properly, 3. To have my expenses for all my over the counter medication reimbursed (I had the receipts for Benadryl, and other skin soothers etc) The staff refused any and all my requests. They refused to let me speak to the owner. The owner never returned a call to me and refused to speak to me on the phone. I was so traumatized by this that honestly I haven’t taken anything to a cleaner since. That was over a year ago. Oh I ended up throwing the coat away. It was a nice down coat with hood by Uniqlo.
