If youre looking for an architect, stop looking. I hope you have time to read my entire review because I have so many excellent things to say about working with Ale Preda Architecture. I own a townhouse in Astoria, NY that needed a facelift. I had a few ideas about what I wanted to do so I searched for someone to help me flesh them out. I found Ale, and as soon as I met him, I knew he was exactly the person I was looking for. I appreciated his portfolio and his references. Discussing the project with him was so easy, I immediately felt completely comfortable. I said I had a few ideas. So, Ale and I took a stroll around the neighborhood to look at some of the design elements I was considering. At the end of that stroll, I was thrilled to have hired Ale because he politely told me why my ideas were pretty awful and explained why. I wanted to change the entire front of the house and I wanted to get rid of my lawn. My house used to look like every other house on the street, every house across the street, every house on every street nearby. Ale presented me with a stunning idea that fit my budget. I was so excited that I started adding things to the project. I created a terrace on the front and redid my backyard. Ale had the idea to increase the size of the front window and the windows upstairs. That change alone was something I never thought of, and it makes a dramatic difference outside and inside. Sitting in our living room now well, it feels like we just discovered how to turn on the lights. Its so bright and warm and cheerful. Ales idea for the front patio was brilliant. I especially love looking down on it from the new terrace, because it looks like a work of art. Ale patiently guided me through every decision pointfrom choices of materials, colors, landscaping the front, the backyard fence, furniture for the backyard, planters for the front, the address numbers and the mailbox. Every detail was considered, discussed and I dont think I ever disagreed with Ale. I did make additions to the original design, and Ale was professional and gracious about them all. He also took care of all the daunting task of obtaining permits. Plus, he and I met several general contractors and after we made a decision, he negotiated the contract. Throughout the process, Ale was there to make decisions and check on how the work was progressing, discussing details of the construction with the contractor. Everything we did came in either at or under budget. Now that its done, Im thrilled with the house. Neighbors are thrilled with the house. People stop in front of the house all the time and stare at it. They tell me how much they love it. I was even stopped one day in Astoria Park by a couple who asked me if I owned the gray house on 21st St. It was a little strange, but I said yes. They told me that they live in the apartment house across the street, and they loved watching the changes being made, and especially love the finished product. Every time I walk up to my new house, I fall in love with it again. Look at the before and after pictures and youll see why. Its completely because of Ales creativity, his organization and attention to detail, all served up with patience and charm. Hire him.
