It’s a Saturday night, it’s busy, I get it. Yet, being professional counts, especially under pressure. Here I go with my experience at the Shipwreck Tavern, we waited 10 minutes to be seated, I was with a party of 4, I had to find someone to be seated. After speaking to the third employee, I was told I could sit at a table I chose. We got menus after 5 minutes, then waited nearly 20 minutes until our orders were taken. While we waited, I noticed at least 15 people waiting at the entrance to the restaurant, and still no hostess to greet at the door, or at least to give a wait time for said seating. We finally got to order our drinks and meals. My girlfriend and her bestie tried to order a bottle of wine to share. Apparently there was a mistake with the menu, bottles of wine were not supposed to be listed, plus all drafts beer were unavailable, including other bottled drinks, and mozzarella sticks, this should have been mentioned before we ordered. Our drinks were served with our meals after 20 minutes. Drinks are served before our meals were made. On top of that, we had to ask twice for our utensils after our meals were served, instead of having them from the moment we order meals. There was a mistake with our order, and after we were told we wouldn’t be charged for the mistake, we were charged anyway. Truthfully, the food for me was good. Burgers were ordered medium, and were served medium. Usually for me, that’s hard to find. The kitchen did a great job, but the servers were at a loss and rude. We asked for our checks to be split, and they couldn’t do that. Apparently that was our fault. Servers where unapologetic, and had a snarky attitude. Finally when our bill was brought out, we asked for a manager to discuss wrongful charges on our bill, and for the poor lack of service. The manager never came. There was a gratuity charge of $26.70 automatically added to our bill, needless to say, we didn’t want to pay. We waited almost 30 minutes for the manager who never came, so we took it on ourselves not to pay the gratuity. They were lucky we didn’t have exact change, so they got off with a $6 tip. Finally, I’ve done this job before in much busier locations. This service should include a friendly demeanor, with a smile, and professional courtesy. This establishment needs to realize that their servers are ruining their business. I will not be coming back to this restaurant ever again. Good luck Shipwreck. The name implied the quality of service.

My family and I went here for a birthday dinner last week, since we were just at the nearby amusement park earlier that day. Strike 1: We waited at the front of the restaurant for the host to seat us. Nobody ever came, and after 5 minutes we just seated ourselves at a random table. Strike 2: After another 5 minutes of waiting the waitress finally comes. She casually asked if we want menus. Well, what do you think?! Noooo, we're just sitting in here to examine the place... Strike 3A: We ask the waitress for a high chair for my baby sister. She says the restaurant doesn't have any available. I only saw one other high chair being used, and the place wasn't busy at all. She said she would go to another restaurant next door and ask to borrow their high chair. Strike 3B: The waitress comes back with a high chair from the other restaurant, only for us to discover that it was broken. Luckily that other family using the high chair were finishing up and gave it to us. Strike 4: There was a guy smoking a cigarette at a nearby table (we were sitting outside). We had to tell the guy ourselves to stop since we didn't want the baby breathing in smoke, because apparently the restaurant couldn't care less about it... Strike 5: After finally getting our menus, it was another ten minutes before the waitress took our orders. Strike 6A: I went into the bathroom, and it was like a gas station bathroom. The place was absolutely gross. Strike 6B: One sink in the bathroom didn't work. The other one that did splashed water all over the place and got my shirt all wet. Strike 7: The lemonade I ordered tasted weird (that might've just been a subjective thing). Strike 8: $18 for a cheeseburger that was nothing special (but at least edible). Shake Shack could've made a much better burger. The service was nearly non-existent, and the food was mediocre at most and very overpriced. I REFUSE to come back here, this place doesn't deserve my money ever again! But at least I enjoyed the ocean view...

Incredible place for drinks on the water! First of all, the view is gorgeous and beautiful in every way, definitely come to the rooftop if you can because you can get the best view of the Long Island Sound! The drinks were both delicious and strong in the best way possible! Highly recommend the Rum Zombie!! We came on a Saturday night and it wasn’t even that crowded which was super nice but clearly also busy because people like to come here. We went to the beach across the street after and then went mini golfing after as well. So fun! This might just be one of our new favorite places now. We will definitely be coming back here in the future! Thanks for the amazing drinks!!
