Vargas Floor Techs

From start to finish, Vargas Floor Techs did a PHENOMENAL job in replacing the hardwood floors in my newly purchased Manhattan apartment. One of the references I checked told me that "Mr. Vargas is the best of the best" who uses the best products, has the best equipment, and does superior finishing work -- all of which I found to be true in spades. By way of background, I had done a fair amount of research on proper hardwood floor installation techniques before I started interviewing flooring contractors. What I then found is that most flooring and general contractors either admitted to, or attempted to, cut corners on the job beginning with the interview and -- to put it mildly -- tried to fib. As a result, I kept interviewing until I found Mr. Vargas. He was the 6th and final flooring contractor I interviewed (plus 3 GCs and a bunch more flooring contractors on the phone), and he was far and away the most knowledgeable and honest. For example, Mr. Vargas was the only one who had experience working with dyes, which is an uncommon skillset, and he is one of very few National Wood Flooring Association certified installers and sanders in the NYC area (the certification requires coursework and testing). Vargas Floor Techs is Bona certified as well. He also works the job, and I appreciated being able to speak to him directly rather than, as was often the case, some salesperson wearing nice shoes who would never touch a tool (and thus told me nothing about the people actually doing the work). Once the job started, Mr. Vargas and his team were extremely hardworking and demonstrated impeccable integrity and beautiful craftsmanship -- all while being professional and personable. The job itself required: (1) removing existing, glued down 1960s parquet flooring, (2) installing unfinished maple floors (this required first prepping the concrete subfloor and installing a plywood subfloor), and (3) sanding and finishing on-site. Mr. Vargas also cared about the little details that go a long way to making the final product look seamless. For example, Mr. Vargas suggested replacing the step up to my terrace with the same maple hardwood and a bullnose edge to complement my traditional aesthetic and worked with me to install new stone thresholds at the main entrance and the bathroom (the old one was cracked). He used Bona products, which are top of the line, for all the glue, sanding, and finishing. Last, but not least, I am beyond thrilled with the final product, which is gorgeous. It has been an absolute pleasure working with Mr. Vargas and his team, and I have already very highly recommended them (and will continue to do so!). As my job demonstrates, he is highly skilled in all aspects of hardwood floor installation and sanding/finishing, so he can easily install prefinished hardwood floors or just refinish existing ones.

We hired Vargas to refinish floors as part of a larger renovation. They were very professional, hardworking and detailed. They were also clean, and used well maintained high-end equipment and supplies. The finished product looked spectacular. Due to poor planning by the general contractor, Vargas ended up doing quite a bit of extra work to keep the project moving. I highly recommend this company and would hire them. My living room and dinning room floors are from 1924;. They were damaged by previous sanding. Ysrael left them like new. He was professional and courteous. His price was competitive but reasonable. I couldn't be happier! Highly recommend his work
